Whisker repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Automated Pet Care
End Use Segment

Litter-Robot is the flagship product line of Whisker, a U.S. pet-technology manufacturer focused primarily on connected and automated cat-care equipment. The company was founded around Brad Baxter's original self-cleaning Litter-Robot in 2000 and has since expanded into automatic feeders and other connected pet-care products. Its best-known products are the Litter-Robot series of automatic self-cleaning litter boxes, which use electromechanical waste-separation systems, sensors, and app connectivity to automate litter-box maintenance and provide pet-activity insights. Whisker designs its products primarily in Michigan and manufactures/assembles its robotic products in Juneau, Wisconsin, while sourcing some components globally. The company says more than 1.5 million pet owners use its automated-care products worldwide.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Pinch Sensor Fault

The anti-pinch contacts or sensors become dirty, corroded, obstructed, or electrically unreliable, causing false pinch-detect errors and stopping the globe mid-cycle. This is especially common on Litter-Robot 3, but pinch-detection faults also occur on later models.

Drawer Full Indicator Failure

DFI optical sensors become contaminated, obstructed, or fail electrically, causing the robot to report a full waste drawer when it is partially filled or empty. Sensor residue, liner positioning, and failed DFI electronics are common causes.

Bonnet Detection Failure

Bonnet electrical contacts, sensors, or fitment become unreliable, producing repeated "Bonnet Removed" errors even when the bonnet is installed. Poor contact, warped components, worn connectors, or globe movement can interrupt the bonnet circuit.

Motor Over-Torque or Motor Failure

The drive motor stalls, strains, becomes noisy, or cannot rotate the globe, producing motor or over-torque faults. Excess litter, mechanical drag, worn gears, debris, or a failing motor assembly can leave the globe stuck mid-cycle.

Globe Position Sensor Failure

Hall-effect or position-sensing systems fail to correctly identify the globe's home or dump positions. The unit may repeatedly stop, reverse, display position faults, or remain with the globe rotated away from its normal home position.

Cat Weight Sensor Failure

The weight or cat-presence sensor becomes inaccurate, overly sensitive, or fails to recognize a cat entering the globe. This can cause missed automatic cycles, repeated cycle interruptions, false cat detections, or inaccurate recorded cat weights.

Curtain or Laser Sensor Failure

Litter-Robot 4 and later models can develop faults in the optical curtain or OmniSense laser sensors used for cat detection and waste-level monitoring. Dust, litter debris, contamination, alignment problems, or sensor-board failure can cause false detections and prevent normal cycling.

Globe Drive Gear Failure

The motor pinion or globe gear track becomes loose, worn, misaligned, or damaged, resulting in jerky rotation, slipping, grinding, or failure to complete a cycle. Severe drive problems can trigger motor-overload or globe-position errors.

Control Board or Wiring Failure

The main circuit board, wiring harness, connectors, or sensor-board electronics can develop intermittent or permanent electrical faults. Symptoms include no power, unexplained multiple sensor errors, nonresponsive controls, erratic cycling, or repeated faults that persist after individual sensors are serviced.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Whisker devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
  2. 2 Per information known, researched and collected by Acme Revival and its systems at time of page publishing (September 17, 2026).
