Nord repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Clavia Digital Musical Instruments AB is a Swedish musical-instrument OEM best known for designing and manufacturing the distinctive red Nord professional keyboards. Based in Stockholm and active since the 1980s, the company develops electronic musical instruments aimed primarily at professional stage and studio musicians. Its product portfolio includes digital stage pianos, performance keyboards, synthesizers and organ-focused instruments, combining sampled acoustic and electric pianos with organ modeling, synthesis and performance-oriented controls. Nord instruments are particularly recognized for their red enclosures, hands-on interfaces, high-quality piano and organ sounds, and Swedish manufacturing. Clavia's instruments are manufactured and tested at its Stockholm facility and are sold internationally through the Nord brand.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Key Contact / Velocity Sensor Failure

Individual keys stop sounding, trigger intermittently, produce incorrect velocity, or suddenly play at maximum/minimum volume. Contaminated or deteriorated key-contact assemblies are a recurring issue across Nord Stage, Electro, Piano and related keyboard models.

Sticking, Broken or Displaced Keys

Keys can mechanically stick, become uneven, break, or come loose from their hinge or keybed mechanism. Foreign debris, worn or damaged keybed components, and mechanical impact can prevent normal key return or travel.

Rotary Encoder / Potentiometer Failure

Knobs and rotary encoders can become erratic, skip values, change parameters without being touched, or stop responding reliably. Wear, contamination, mechanical damage, or failure of the encoder/potentiometer or its panel-board connection are typical causes.

Front-Panel Button Failure

Panel buttons can become intermittent, require excessive pressure, register multiple presses, or stop responding altogether. Aging or contaminated switch contacts and faults involving the panel board or its connections are typical failure points.

Power Supply / No-Power Failure

The instrument may become difficult to start, briefly illuminate and shut down, fail to power on completely, or develop abnormal PSU noise. Faults can originate in the power-supply board, transformer, associated power circuitry, connectors, or main-board power components.

Display / Backlight Failure

LCD or OLED displays can become dim, partially unreadable, distorted, intermittently blank, or completely black while the rest of the instrument remains functional. Display-module aging, backlight failure, and loose or damaged ribbon connections are common underlying causes.

Audio and Pedal Jack / Connector Failure

Audio outputs, pedal inputs, MIDI connections, and other rear-panel connectors can become intermittent or cease functioning. Mechanical stress on the jacks can produce cracked solder joints, damaged PCB traces, failed EMI-filter components, or damaged connectors.

Flash Memory / Boot Failure

Some instruments fail to boot, display boot or Flash-related error messages, freeze during startup, or lose access to operating-system data. Service diagnostics identify Flash-memory, SRAM, processor/DSP communication, and associated main-board circuitry as potential hardware causes.

Main Board / Digital Electronics Failure

Failures of processors, DSPs, SRAM, converters, supporting ICs, or their interconnections can cause freezing, corrupted operation, missing audio, random behavior, startup errors, or a completely nonfunctional instrument. These faults are generally board-level failures requiring systematic service diagnostics rather than simple replacement of an external control.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
