Essencore Limited is an SK-affiliated semiconductor memory and storage company established in 2014, specializing in DRAM memory modules and NAND-flash-based products. Through its premium KLEVV brand, it develops and markets desktop and laptop memory, gaming/overclocking DDR modules, NVMe and SATA solid-state drives, portable SSDs, microSD cards, and USB flash storage. Essencore is particularly known for high-performance PC memory and SSD products aimed at gamers, enthusiasts, and general computing users, with KLEVV products receiving Red Dot and iF design recognition. The company also operates as a significant semiconductor distribution business and has a close supply relationship with SK hynix.
The SSD disappears from BIOS or the operating system and becomes inaccessible. Reports involving KLEVV drives include controller/firmware failure and NAND degradation that can leave the drive permanently busy or without logical access.
The SSD controller can fail to initialize its NAND or translation tables correctly, leaving the drive inaccessible even though the underlying flash may still contain data. This has specifically been documented in recovery cases involving KLEVV NEO N400 drives using the SM2258XT controller.
High-performance KLEVV NVMe models can reach high controller temperatures under sustained workloads, reducing performance when thermal limits are approached. CRAS C930 testing and field reports show particularly high temperatures as a recurring concern, making heatsink contact and airflow important.
Write performance can fall substantially once the SSD's high-speed cache is exhausted during large transfers. KLEVV NVMe testing has shown later portions of sustained writes operating far below the drive's advertised peak write speed.
As NAND flash accumulates program/erase cycles and bad blocks, the SSD can develop read/write errors, degraded performance, or ultimately become inaccessible. Essencore consequently limits SSD warranties by both time and TBW and excludes continuous high-frequency-write workloads.
KLEVV memory may fail to remain stable at its advertised XMP/EXPO speed on some CPU and motherboard combinations, producing crashes, BSODs, failed boots, or automatic fallback to a lower JEDEC/SPD speed. KLEVV itself notes that achievable overclocked speed depends on CPU and motherboard capability.
Systems using KLEVV modules can occasionally fail POST or stop at the motherboard's DRAM diagnostic indicator, particularly with four DIMMs or combined memory kits. Resetting, reducing memory speed, changing configuration, or reverting to default memory settings may allow the machine to boot.
Unstable or defective memory can manifest as application crashes, BSODs, reboots, or diagnostic memory errors. Troubleshooting commonly requires testing individual KLEVV DIMMs and disabling XMP/EXPO to distinguish a defective module from an unstable overclock or platform incompatibility.
KLEVV CRAS and other RGB DIMMs can remain electrically functional as memory while their lighting turns off, becomes stuck on one color, loses synchronization, or disappears from RGB-control software. Reports show that rebooting may temporarily restore control, while compatibility among the motherboard, BIOS, and RGB software can also cause the symptom.
