GoPro is a consumer electronics and imaging company best known for pioneering compact, rugged action cameras designed to capture sports, travel, outdoor activities, and immersive point-of-view video. Its hardware portfolio includes HERO action cameras, MAX 360-degree cameras, newer MISSION cinematic cameras, gimbals, mounts, batteries, lenses, and other wearable/mountable accessories. GoPro also provides the Quik mobile editing application and subscription/cloud services. The company is particularly known for durable and waterproof camera designs, advanced video stabilization, high-resolution video, and an extensive mounting ecosystem that allows cameras to be used in situations where conventional cameras and smartphones are less practical.
Camera temperature rises excessively during recording, particularly at high resolutions and frame rates, causing a temperature warning or automatic shutdown. The issue can result in interrupted recordings and is frequently reported on HERO9 through HERO13 models.
Battery capacity degrades or the camera consumes power unusually quickly, resulting in short recording times, unexpected shutdowns, or failure to power on. Aging batteries and operation at temperature extremes can make the problem substantially worse.
Camera becomes completely unresponsive during startup, recording, or menu operation, with buttons and the touchscreen no longer responding. Persistent freezing can be associated with storage, power, firmware, or internal electronics faults.
Camera displays SD ERR, NO SD, stops recording, fails to save footage, or cannot reliably recognize an otherwise compatible microSD card. Causes range from card corruption or incompatibility to a damaged internal card slot or reader.
Camera fails to boot or shows no response despite using a known-good, fully charged battery or external power source. Persistent cases can indicate failed power circuitry, battery contacts, charging hardware, or motherboard components.
Camera charges intermittently or not at all because the USB-C connector becomes loose, damaged, contaminated, or electrically defective. A failed port can also prevent reliable external-power operation and USB data connectivity.
Rear or front display becomes blank, cracked, flickers, develops visual artifacts, or stops registering touch input correctly. Severe failures can leave the camera operational but make settings, framing, and playback difficult or impossible to control.
Moisture enters the camera through a compromised battery door, damaged seal, improperly closed compartment, or damaged housing. Internal water exposure can produce display problems, corrosion, reboot loops, charging faults, or complete camera failure.
Protective lens cover or internal optical components become scratched, cracked, misaligned, or otherwise damaged, producing blurred, distorted, or visibly defective footage. Models with non-replaceable or integrated lens assemblies can require camera-level repair or replacement rather than a simple lens-cover swap.
