Freqport repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Freqport Pty Ltd is an Australian-Danish professional-audio technology company founded in 2019 by electronics engineers, musicians, and a record-label team. The company specializes in hybrid analog/digital studio hardware designed to integrate physical analog circuitry directly into DAW workflows. Its best-known product is the FreqTube FT1, a USB-connected processor containing four genuine vacuum-tube signal paths that can be operated through plug-ins, while the newer FreqInOut FO1 provides four-channel hardware insert routing for integrating external analog processors and effects with DAWs. Freqport positions its products around combining authentic analog processing with digital control, automation, recall, and high-resolution conversion; it maintains teams/offices in Melbourne, Australia and Copenhagen, Denmark, while its hardware production is reported to take place in China. 2 Most Seen Failures:

USB Device Not Detected / Unreachable

FreqTube FT1 and FreqInOut FO1 units can fail to establish or maintain their USB connection, appearing as "Device is Unreachable," "Waiting for Connection," or disappearing from the host computer. Faulty USB cables, hubs, corrupted device enumeration, bandwidth conflicts, and AnalogHub communication problems are common triggers.

No Audio Despite Hardware Connection

The hardware may be detected correctly while no audio passes through the Freqport processing path. Audio-device conflicts, AnalogHub routing problems, operating-system permissions, aggregate-device configurations, or another application taking control of the Freqport audio device are frequent causes.

Audio Glitches, Pops, and Dropouts

FT1 and FO1 processing can exhibit intermittent clicks, glitches, dropouts, or distorted playback when USB communication or real-time audio processing becomes unstable. Low buffer settings, excessive CPU load, unsuitable audio drivers, damaged USB cables, and shared USB bandwidth commonly contribute.

Latency / Signal Timing Misalignment

Processed audio may be slightly offset from the original signal, producing timing errors, comb filtering, or phasing when wet and dry paths are combined. Earlier FT1 testing also documented the beginning of processed signals being truncated unless playback was started ahead of the desired audio.

AnalogHub / Plugin Communication Failure

The hardware depends heavily on Freqport's AnalogHub middleware, and failures in that communication layer can leave otherwise functional hardware unavailable to the DAW. Symptoms include disconnected hardware, unavailable processing channels, stalled plugin instances, or operation returning only after AnalogHub or the DAW is restarted.

Vacuum Tube Degradation or Calibration Drift

The FT1's E83CC/12AX7 and 12AT7 tubes are wear components that can eventually develop reduced gain, excess noise, microphonics, channel imbalance, or failure. Because the tubes are factory matched and calibrated, Freqport recommends factory servicing rather than user replacement when a tube deteriorates.

Input Overload / Premature Digital Clipping

FT1 units can clip the signal before the desired amount of tube saturation is reached when the Drive stage is pushed aggressively. Firmware revisions increased available headroom, but excessive level into the converter and processing stages can still produce unwanted hard clipping rather than controlled tube distortion.

High-Frequency Aliasing / Converter Artifacts

Earlier FT1 firmware was reported to produce audible aliasing above roughly 17 kHz under some processing conditions. Freqport subsequently released firmware that users reported corrected the issue, making this primarily a historical firmware/converter-processing failure rather than a current universal defect.

Power / USB Power Instability

Unstable power can cause connection loss, boot problems, or intermittent operation, particularly when FO1 is USB-bus powered or when either model is connected through marginal hubs, adapters, or cables. FT1 additionally relies on its dedicated 24 W supply and internal high-voltage conversion circuitry for the tube plate voltage, making correct and stable power especially important.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
