Freedman Electronics repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Freedman Electronics Pty Ltd is an Australian audio-technology manufacturer best known as the parent company and operator of RØDE Microphones. Founded in Sydney in 1967, the company designs and manufactures professional and consumer audio hardware including studio, broadcast, wireless and on-camera microphones, podcasting and streaming consoles, audio interfaces, headphones, and related digital audio products. Freedman is notable for maintaining substantial vertically integrated manufacturing in Sydney, including precision metalworking, electronics production, acoustic testing, and microphone capsule manufacture. Its products are widely used for music recording, filmmaking, broadcast, podcasting, location sound and content creation, and are sold internationally in more than 100 countries.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Internal Battery / Charging Failure

Wireless GO, Wireless PRO, VideoMic NTG and other rechargeable RØDE products can stop charging, fail to retain charge, or operate only while externally powered. Aging lithium cells, charging circuitry, USB-C connections, and power-management faults are common hardware-level suspects.

USB-C Port / Device Detection Failure

USB-equipped microphones, wireless systems and RØDECaster products may stop being recognized by computers or mobile devices despite known-good cables and ports. Persistent cases can involve worn USB-C connectors, damaged solder joints, USB interface circuitry, or failed data-line components.

Power Management / No-Power Failure

Products may refuse to power on, wake only when USB power is attached, or shut down unpredictably. VideoMic NTG and RØDECaster-family reports particularly point toward battery, regulator, power-supply, or internal power-management faults when resets and firmware recovery fail.

Audio Crackling / Digital Dropouts

NT-USB-series microphones, VideoMic models and Wireless GO systems are repeatedly reported with crackling, popping, robotic audio or intermittent dropouts. After host, cable and buffer problems are eliminated, faults can originate in USB audio circuitry, converters, connectors, RF sections or internal power regulation.

No Audio / Intermittent Audio Output

A microphone or wireless receiver may appear powered and connected yet produce no usable audio or intermittently lose its signal. Likely hardware causes include failed microphone capsules, preamp stages, damaged 3.5 mm/XLR/USB connectors, ADC circuitry or internal interconnects.

RØDECaster Boot / Startup Failure

RØDECaster Pro II and RØDECaster Duo units can become stuck on the loading screen, repeatedly reboot or fail to complete startup. Firmware corruption can imitate the fault, but persistent cases may involve power regulation, flash storage, processor-board or peripheral-interface failures.

Headphone Output Hiss / Noise

RØDECaster Duo, RØDECaster Pro II and Streamer X users report excessive hiss or background noise from headphone outputs, particularly with sensitive low-impedance headphones or IEMs. When present independently of inputs and cabling, the headphone amplifier, grounding, power filtering or analog output stage is the primary hardware area of concern.

Rotary Encoder / Physical Control Failure

RØDECaster-family hardware can develop nonresponsive or erratic rotary encoders, buttons and other physical controls. Failures are commonly associated with worn encoder mechanisms, switch contacts, connector problems or control-board faults rather than the audio signal path itself.

Firmware-Update / Bootloader Lockup

Wireless GO and other digitally controlled RØDE products can become stuck with LEDs illuminated, remain in bootloader mode, or become undetectable after an interrupted firmware update. Many units recover after a reset or full discharge, but persistent failures may indicate corrupted flash memory, unstable power circuitry or a damaged controller board.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
  2. 2 Per information known, researched and collected by Acme Revival and its systems at time of page publishing (October 2, 2026).
