In addition to cloud and software offerings, Forcepoint supplies purpose-built physical network-security appliances ranging from compact branch-office devices to high-performance systems for enterprise campuses and data centers.
Storage drives can fail or become degraded, producing disk warnings, RAID degradation, boot problems, or loss of storage redundancy. Forcepoint documents hot-swap/replacement procedures for HDDs and SSDs across multiple appliance families.
Failure of a disk can place RAID-equipped Forcepoint appliances into a degraded state, while multiple failed drives can require RAID recreation and restoration of the firewall image. RAID rebuilds can also temporarily reduce appliance performance.
AC or DC power-supply modules can fail or report warning/fault states, potentially removing power redundancy or shutting down an appliance if no functioning supply remains. Many Forcepoint rack appliances therefore use replaceable redundant power supplies.
Chassis fans can fail and trigger hardware warnings, reducing the cooling available to CPUs, storage, and other internal components. Forcepoint recommends prompt replacement and, on some models, replacement of all appliance fans when one fails.
Replaceable Ethernet/interface modules can fail, causing ports or entire groups of network interfaces to become unavailable or undetected. Forcepoint provides module-replacement and subsequent interface-remapping procedures across multiple NGFW appliance families.
SFP and SFP+ optical transceivers can fail or cease providing a usable network link, requiring transceiver replacement after cabling and configuration are ruled out. Forcepoint appliances support replaceable optical transceivers across numerous interface modules.
Smaller NGFW appliance models use replaceable CFast storage that can fail and require replacement followed by appliance reconfiguration. Failure of this boot media can prevent normal startup or reliable operation of the security engine.
Memory limitations or DIMM-related problems can cause instability or resource exhaustion under heavy workloads. Forcepoint specifically documented memory shortages on V5000 G2R2 appliances under heavy load and certified a DIMM expansion kit as the remedy.
Motherboard, controller, or other non-field-repairable internal failures can leave an appliance unable to boot or operate reliably and may require full-box RMA replacement. Forcepoint's hardware support program explicitly provides full-unit replacement for qualifying hardware defects.
