FOR-A repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

FOR-A Company Limited is a Japanese professional broadcast and video-technology OEM founded in 1971. The company develops and manufactures professional video equipment and software used in broadcast, live production, sports, events, and other professional audiovisual workflows. Its portfolio includes video switchers, routing and signal-processing equipment, multi-viewers, frame-rate converters, graphics systems, replay/slow-motion solutions, video servers, IP-based production systems, and related software. FOR-A is particularly associated with high-end broadcast and live-production infrastructure and emphasizes Japanese manufacturing, high-mix/low-volume production, and rigorous quality control. The company says it produces more than 400 in-house products and also provides contract manufacturing capabilities.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Power Supply Failure

Internal power-supply failure causes the unit to lose power, operate intermittently, or report a red POWER/PS alarm. Aging switch-mode power-supply components, particularly electrolytic capacitors, can also introduce ripple and visible interference into video outputs.

Cooling Fan Failure

One or more internal cooling fans stop operating or fall outside their expected operating state, triggering a FAN or ALARM indication. Continued operation can reduce cooling and increase internal temperatures.

Video Input Signal Failure

An SDI, HDMI, composite, or other supported video input is no longer detected or cannot be processed correctly despite a valid source and connection. The resulting output may be absent, black, frozen, or replaced by the unit's configured loss-mode image.

Video Output Failure

One or more physical video outputs stop producing a valid signal even though the unit is powered and an appropriate source or crosspoint is selected. The fault can present as complete loss of output or abnormal/corrupted video.

Genlock / Reference Lock Failure

The unit fails to lock correctly to an external reference signal and reports an internal-lock, unlock, or unlit genlock condition. This can disrupt synchronized video processing and switching even when the rest of the unit remains operational.

Network / Control Interface Failure

The hardware cannot reliably communicate with its remote panel, control PC, GUI, or other network-connected equipment despite correct configuration and cabling. Symptoms include loss of remote control, failed connections, or a unit that stops responding to commands.

Control Panel / Operator Interface Failure

Front-panel controls, buttons, touch-panel functions, or the separate operator panel become unresponsive or respond abnormally. The main processing chassis may continue passing video while local operation is partially or completely unavailable.

Video Processing / Image Corruption Failure

The unit remains operational but produces abnormal video such as horizontal interference, corrupted images, incorrect color, unstable pictures, or unintended frozen frames. Power-supply degradation or faults within the signal-processing path can cause this class of failure.

Internal I/O / Option Board Failure

An installed input, output, DVE, multiviewer, or other expansion board is no longer detected or fails to perform its assigned function. The failure can remove only the channels or features associated with that board while the remainder of the chassis continues operating.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most FOR-A devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
  2. 2 Per information known, researched and collected by Acme Revival and its systems at time of page publishing (September 28, 2026).
