Volume Potentiometer / Knob Failure
The volume potentiometer can become noisy, intermittent, or mechanically faulty, causing crackling during adjustment or sudden loss of one audio channel. This has been specifically reported on the In Ear Stick.
Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.
Fischer Amps is a German professional-audio equipment manufacturer founded in 1996 and focused primarily on in-ear monitoring and stage-audio solutions for musicians, sound engineers, and audiophiles. Its product portfolio includes universal and custom-fit in-ear monitors, headphone/in-ear amplifiers, body packs, drummer monitoring equipment, professional battery chargers and rechargeable batteries, audio test tools, DI/stage devices, and related accessories. The company is particularly known for robust, German-made monitoring equipment and handcrafted in-ear earphones designed for professional live-performance environments. It also has a longstanding relationship with Ultimate Ears Pro and has collaborated with Sennheiser on the FA 500 Custom in-ear monitor.
The volume potentiometer can become noisy, intermittent, or mechanically faulty, causing crackling during adjustment or sudden loss of one audio channel. This has been specifically reported on the In Ear Stick.
One side of the headphone output may become intermittent or disappear entirely, resulting in left- or right-channel audio loss. Reported cases can coincide with faults in the volume control or output circuitry.
In Ear Amp 2 and In Ear Amp 8 models can enter protection when the headphone amplifier is overloaded, disconnecting the headphone outputs and leaving the protection LED red. Incorrect or excessively low load impedance can trigger this condition.
Using an incompatible mono plug in a stereo headphone output can permanently short and overload one amplifier channel. The affected channel may enter protection or suffer output-stage damage.
On the In Ear Stick, the small screw securing the battery tray to the PCB can loosen during repeated use and may eventually fall out. This leaves the battery assembly mechanically unsecured and can require hardware repair or replacement.
Rechargeable batteries used with Fischer Amps charging hardware can deteriorate until operating time becomes significantly shorter. Eventually the battery may no longer accept a normal charge and the charger will remain in its fault/deep-discharge indication state.
Shaker Amp hardware can become excessively hot under sustained high-output operation, especially with demanding low-impedance transducers or obstructed ventilation. Severe thermal stress can lead to protection activation or amplifier-stage failure.
A short circuit in the shaker connection or a problem in the power amplifier stage can trigger the Shaker Amp's protection circuitry. The result is loss of transducer output until the underlying load, wiring, or amplifier fault is corrected.
Drum In Ear Amp and Shaker Amp models rely on correctly selected mains voltage, appropriate fusing, and a healthy internal power supply. Incorrect mains-voltage configuration, excessive load, or an electrical fault can blow the mains fuse or damage/disable the power-supply stage.
