Fellowes repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Fellowes, Inc. (Fellowes Brands) is a long-established, family-owned American manufacturer specializing in equipment and products for offices, commercial workplaces, and home workspaces. Founded in 1917, the company is especially well known for its paper shredders, alongside laminators, binding machines, air purifiers and air-quality systems, ergonomic workstation products, monitor arms, sit-stand equipment, document-storage products, and other business machines. The broader Fellowes organization has expanded into contract furnishings and architectural workplace solutions, but its best-known hardware business remains office and workplace equipment designed around document security, productivity, ergonomics, and indoor air quality. Fellowes operates globally with manufacturing, R&D, distribution, and sales locations across North America, Europe, and Asia.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Paper Jam / Cutter Blockage

Paper becomes tightly packed between the shredder cutters, commonly from overfeeding, folded sheets, prohibited materials, or insufficient cutter lubrication. Severe jams can stall the drive motor and prevent forward or reverse operation.

Thermal Overload / Overheating

The shredder stops during operation after the motor exceeds its rated duty cycle and trips the thermal protection circuit. Repeated overheating can accelerate motor, winding, capacitor, and thermal-switch deterioration.

Paper-Feed Sensor Failure

The shredder fails to start automatically when paper is inserted or runs when no paper is present because the optical or mechanical feed sensor is dirty, obstructed, misaligned, or defective. Paper dust accumulation around the sensor is a frequent contributor.

Stripped or Damaged Drive Gears

The motor can be heard running or humming while the cutter shafts fail to rotate because gears in the shredder drivetrain have stripped, cracked, or disengaged. Heavy jams and repeated overloads place particularly high stress on these components.

Motor or Start-Capacitor Failure

The shredder may hum without turning, start intermittently, run weakly, or remain completely inactive when the drive motor or its starting circuitry deteriorates. Long-term overheating and cutter overload can contribute to these failures.

Bin / Door Safety Interlock Failure

The machine refuses to operate despite having power because it incorrectly detects the waste bin, cabinet door, or shredder head as open or improperly installed. Worn switches, misalignment, accumulated debris, or defective sensors can cause the false safety condition.

SafeSense / Safety Sensor False Trigger

SafeSense-equipped shredders may stop unexpectedly or refuse to operate when the touch-sensitive safety system falsely detects contact near the paper entry. Contamination, moisture, sensor faults, or associated control circuitry can produce persistent activation.

Laminator Pouch Jam / Roller Contamination

Laminating pouches become trapped, wrap around rollers, or emerge wrinkled when inserted incorrectly or when adhesive accumulates on the roller surfaces. Continued operation with contaminated or damaged rollers can cause repeated jams and damaged laminations.

Laminator Heating / Temperature-Control Failure

The laminator fails to reach operating temperature, produces cloudy or poorly sealed pouches, or overheats and curls the material. Common underlying faults include heater, thermal-control, fuse, temperature-sensor, roller electrical-contact, or control-board problems.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Fellowes devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
