FAME 3D repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

FAME 3D, LLC, formally Fargo Additive Manufacturing Equipment 3D, LLC, is a U.S. additive-manufacturing equipment company best known as the owner and manufacturer of the LulzBot line of open-source desktop 3D printers. FAME 3D acquired the assets and LulzBot brand of Aleph Objects in 2019 and moved continued development, manufacturing, and support to Fargo, North Dakota. Its product portfolio centers on FFF/FDM 3D printers such as the TAZ and Mini families, along with interchangeable tool heads, printer electronics, hardware, filament, and related printing components. The company emphasizes open-source hardware and software, user-serviceable machines, broad material compatibility, and rugged printers intended for prototyping, education, engineering, manufacturing, government, makerspaces, and professional additive-manufacturing applications.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Hot-End / Nozzle Clogging

Molten filament can accumulate or solidify in the nozzle, heat break, or melt zone, causing under-extrusion or complete loss of material flow. Continued feeding against a clog often causes the extruder drive gear to grind through the filament.

Hot-End Heater Failure

The heater resistor or cartridge can fail open or develop an intermittent electrical connection, leaving the nozzle unable to reach operating temperature. Heater and hot-end replacement procedures are a recurring repair category on LulzBot hardware.

Thermistor / Temperature Sensor Failure

Hot-end or heated-bed thermistors and their wiring can become open, shorted, damaged, or intermittent, producing incorrect temperature readings and thermal shutdowns. Cable movement around the tool head can aggravate connector and wire fatigue.

Automatic Bed-Leveling Failure

LulzBot printers can fail their probing sequence when nozzle contact is unreliable, the nozzle is contaminated, the Z axes become unsynchronized, or the probing circuit has a connection problem. Symptoms include failed corner probing, incorrect Z height, and aborted leveling routines.

Heated-Bed / Bed Wiring Failure

Repeated movement of the Y-axis can fatigue heater, thermistor, or connector wiring leading to the heated bed. Typical symptoms include a bed that will not heat, intermittent temperature readings, or heater faults during a print.

RAMBo Controller / Stepper Driver Failure

RAMBo-family control boards can develop failed motor-driver channels or other electronic faults, causing an axis to chatter, stop moving, or behave erratically. Z-axis motion failures have specifically been associated with failed controller drivers.

Power Supply Failure

Power-supply components can fail or deteriorate, causing shutdowns, resets, flickering displays, or motor problems when the heaters place the printer under load. Failed inrush-current thermistors, cooling problems, and internal PSU faults have all been reported.

Linear Bearing / Motion-System Wear

Linear bearings, rods, bushings, and carriage mounts can develop excessive play or binding over time. The resulting tool-head movement can produce dimensional errors, vibration, inconsistent layers, or rough axis travel.

Z-Axis Misalignment / Lead-Screw Desynchronization

The two Z lead screws can become uneven or mechanically misaligned, leaving the X carriage out of square with the bed. This commonly causes failed auto-leveling, incorrect nozzle height, binding, or uneven first layers.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
