Fairphone repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Fairphone B.V. is a Netherlands-based consumer-electronics OEM best known for designing unusually repairable, modular smartphones with long software-support periods and extensive availability of user-replaceable parts. Its product line centers on Fairphone smartphones, supplemented by repairable Fairbuds wireless earbuds and Fairbuds XL headphones. The company differentiates itself through longevity, modular construction, responsible mineral sourcing, recycled materials, worker-welfare programs, reduced electronic waste, and encouraging owners to repair rather than prematurely replace devices. Fairphone's current-generation phones continue this strategy with modular hardware, replaceable components and extended software support; its Fairphone (Gen. 6) received a 10/10 iFixit repairability score according to Fairphone's 2025 impact reporting.

2 Most Seen Failures:

USB Charging Port Failure

USB-C and earlier Micro-USB connectors can become loose, contaminated, mechanically damaged, or develop failed solder/contact connections, resulting in intermittent or completely failed charging and data transfer. Charging-port and bottom-module problems recur particularly often on Fairphone 2 and Fairphone 3 hardware.

Primary Microphone Failure

The main call microphone can become weak, distorted, intermittent, or completely silent, sometimes leaving speakerphone as the only usable calling mode. Fairphone 2 bottom-module microphone failures were especially frequently reported, while microphone failures also occur on later Fairphone generations.

Battery Degradation and Rapid Discharge

Removable Fairphone batteries progressively lose capacity, producing shortened runtime, unexpected shutdowns, unstable battery percentages, or difficulty powering the phone under load. Aging batteries are among the most routinely replaced hardware components across older Fairphone models.

Display and Touchscreen Failure

Displays can develop ghost touches, unresponsive areas, flickering, discoloration, bright spots, broken LCD/OLED panels, or complete loss of image. Fairphone 4 reports notably include reproducible ghost-input behavior, while impact damage and aging affect displays across generations.

Camera Module Failure

Main or selfie cameras can stop initializing, freeze, produce corrupted images, fail to focus, or become unavailable because of module or interconnect faults. Camera modules are separately replaceable on several Fairphone generations and camera-related failures are repeatedly documented.

Loudspeaker and Earpiece Failure

The bottom loudspeaker or call earpiece can become quiet, distorted, intermittent, or completely silent due to speaker, contact, or module failure. Fairphone provides dedicated replacement procedures for these components, and blown or nonfunctional speakers have been documented in its support ecosystem.

Module and Interconnect Contact Failure

Spring contacts, pogo pins, ribbon cables, board-to-board connectors, and module pressure contacts can loosen, oxidize, bend, or fracture, producing intermittent microphones, speakers, charging, displays, cameras, or vibration. Some Fairphone faults temporarily improve when pressure is applied to the chassis, strongly indicating contact-related failure.

Fingerprint Sensor / Power Button Failure

The combined fingerprint and power-button assemblies used on newer Fairphones can become unreliable, repeatedly misread fingerprints, or stop detecting fingerprints altogether. Fairphone 4 and Fairphone 5 users have repeatedly reported fingerprint-recognition faults, including cases where fingerprint functionality disappears entirely.

Proximity and Ambient-Light Sensor Failure

The proximity or light-sensing system can behave erratically, causing the display to remain active during calls, switch off unexpectedly, or react incorrectly in bright sunlight. Proximity-sensor abnormalities have been repeatedly documented on Fairphone hardware, particularly Fairphone 4.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
