The company designs and engineers its products in Australia while using manufacturing partners in China. Its current range includes the espresso Pro, Touch and Display portable-monitor families alongside stands, mounts, cases, stylus pens, charging products and connectivity accessories. Espresso is particularly known for slim aluminum portable displays combining touchscreen and pen input with USB-C connectivity, aimed at professionals, creators and users who need a second screen while working away from a conventional desk. The company describes its products as Australian designed and engineered and has received recognition including CES Innovation, Red Dot and Good Design awards.
The display is detected by the connected computer and may have power, audio, or backlighting, but no image appears. Reports span V2/15 Touch and 17 Pro hardware, sometimes persisting across different cables, ports, and host devices.
The Espresso logo appears briefly before the screen immediately goes dark. This commonly occurs when the display receives power but cannot establish or maintain a valid video signal.
The display fails to power, transmit video, or maintain a stable connection through USB-C. Symptoms can follow cable degradation, unsupported cable specifications, or unreliable power/video negotiation between the display and host.
The display sometimes fails to wake after being powered down or disconnected, despite the host still detecting it. Replugging, swapping connections, or power-cycling may temporarily restore operation.
Touch input stops working even though the display itself continues showing video normally. The issue can involve the touch interface, firmware/driver communication, host permissions, or USB data connection.
Touching the Espresso screen causes input to register on another connected monitor instead. This is particularly documented on Windows multi-monitor systems where the touchscreen association becomes incorrectly assigned.
The LCD continues producing an image but its backlight does not illuminate, leaving the screen apparently black or only faintly visible under close inspection. Users have reported this while touch, audio, power passthrough, and other display electronics continue operating.
The magnetic mounting system may inadequately retain the display or allow the screen to wobble, slip, or detach. Reports include 17 Pro/Stand+ Pro setups and other Espresso magnetic accessories, with falls potentially resulting in cracked display glass.
Stylus input can exhibit lag, unreliable palm rejection, missed secondary actions, or inconsistent behavior between applications. These issues reduce writing and drawing reliability even when basic pen input remains functional.
