Elica S.p.A. is an Italian appliance manufacturer specializing in kitchen ventilation and cooking equipment, particularly extractor range hoods, integrated extractor/induction hobs, conventional cooktops, ovens, and wine coolers. The company describes itself as a global leader in kitchen extraction systems and also operates a significant electric-motor business supplying household appliances and heating boilers. Elica sells products under its own brands as well as manufacturing for major international OEM customers, with production spread across Europe, North America, and China. It is especially known for design-focused range hoods and its NikolaTesla family of induction cooktops with integrated extraction.
The extraction motor may stop completely, run intermittently, overheat, hum without turning, or lose speed. Motor winding, bearing, thermal-protection, and grease-contamination failures are recurring causes on Elica cooker hoods.
A degraded motor capacitor commonly causes the blower to hum, start slowly, fail to start, or operate at incorrect speeds. Elica repair discussions repeatedly identify the capacitor as a primary suspect when the motor still turns freely but will not run normally.
The main electronic power board can fail and leave the hood completely unresponsive, permanently illuminated, intermittently operational, or unable to control the blower correctly. Elica repair reports indicate power-board faults are especially common when both extraction and lighting controls stop responding.
Capacitive touch panels and electronic button interfaces can become unresponsive, operate intermittently, or remain illuminated without accepting commands. The underlying fault may be within the touch-control assembly, its connection, or associated control electronics.
Individual LED lamps, LED strips, drivers, or lighting power circuits can fail, producing no illumination, flickering, dim output, or partial lighting. Many Elica models use integrated LED systems that require replacement of the LED module or driver rather than a conventional bulb.
Grease-loaded filters, saturated charcoal filters, obstructed ducting, or blower degradation can substantially reduce extraction performance. Elica specifically warns that clogged filters restrict airflow, increase motor load, and make the appliance noisier.
Worn motor bearings, an imbalanced or contaminated blower wheel, loose hardware, or airflow restriction can produce buzzing, rattling, grinding, or excessive vibration. Filter blockage also increases operating noise because the motor must work against greater airflow resistance.
NikolaTesla extractor hobs can develop faults in the induction electronics that prevent one or more cooking zones from heating or generate persistent error codes. Elica documentation instructs users to seek service when electronic fault codes remain after basic troubleshooting.
NikolaTesla and other electronically controlled Elica hobs may shut down the cooking/control zone when internal electronics become excessively hot. Cooling-system problems, restricted ventilation, or faults within the power electronics can cause repeated thermal shutdowns.
