DWARFLAB repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

DWARFLAB is a consumer optical-imaging technology brand operated by Tinyphoton (Wuhan) Technology Co., Ltd., specializing in compact, app-controlled smart telescopes designed to simplify astronomy and astrophotography. Its products combine motorized GoTo positioning, automatic celestial tracking, autofocus, dual-camera imaging, computational image stacking and smartphone control, allowing users to photograph deep-sky objects, the Moon, Sun, Milky Way and terrestrial subjects without a conventional telescope setup. The company became particularly known for the portable DWARF II and DWARF 3, and its current lineup includes the smaller DWARF mini and higher-end Draco imaging system. DWARFLAB positions its products as accessible all-in-one astrophotography instruments rather than traditional optical telescopes, with its software handling much of the alignment, tracking, capture and image-processing workflow.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Wi-Fi / Bluetooth Connection Failure

DWARF telescopes may fail to appear in the app, refuse Wi-Fi/Bluetooth pairing, repeatedly disconnect, or lose communication during operation. Connection instability is one of the most extensively documented DWARFLAB troubleshooting issues and can involve the telescope's hotspot, AP/STA modes, network configuration, or firmware.

Calibration / Plate-Solving Failure

The telescope may repeatedly report calibration failure or be unable to determine its orientation, preventing accurate GoTo operation and astronomical tracking. Failures are associated with poor star detection, incorrect location data, focus problems, obstructions, storage conditions, and occasionally device or motor faults.

Autofocus Failure / Blurred Imaging

Autofocus may hunt continuously, stop at an incorrect position, become stuck, or leave stars and terrestrial subjects visibly blurred. DWARFLAB provides manual infinity-focus adjustment as a workaround when automatic focusing cannot establish sharp stars.

Motor Reset / Positioning Failure

The motorized altitude or azimuth mechanism may fail to reset, report a position error, or move incorrectly during calibration and GoTo operations. Persistent cases can indicate a motor or positioning-system fault requiring DWARFLAB evaluation or repair.

Tracking Instability / Star Elongation

Tracking errors can cause elongated stars, trails, rejected exposures, and abnormally high numbers of dropped frames during long astronomical sessions. Reports also describe mechanical play developing in the rotational/base mechanism as a possible contributor in affected units.

Image Stacking Failure

Astrophotography sessions may stop stacking frames, reject large numbers of exposures, or fail to begin stacking altogether. Misfocus, tracking instability, calibration problems, incorrect dark frames, excessive exposure, and motion can all trigger this behavior.

Firmware Update / Post-Update Failure

Firmware installations may fail, become incomplete, or leave the telescope unreachable or malfunctioning after an update. DWARFLAB specifically warns that interrupted installation or power fluctuation can cause update-related failures requiring support intervention.

Power / Charging Failure

Affected units may refuse to power on, stop accepting a charge, show no charging indicator, or fail even when connected to a known-good USB-C power source. DWARFLAB's troubleshooting procedure specifically calls for testing alternate chargers and cables before treating the telescope itself as faulty.

Internal Storage / File Access Failure

DWARF 3 can develop storage-access symptoms in which a computer asks to format the telescope, the device is not properly recognized over USB, or captured photographs cannot be retrieved normally. Storage/file-system problems can interfere with image retrieval and may require reformatting, USB troubleshooting, or manufacturer support.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
