DVDO repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

DVDO is a California-founded audiovisual electronics OEM specializing in professional AV signal management, distribution, connectivity, and collaboration hardware. Founded in 1997, the company originally became well known for its iScan video processors and high-performance video scaling/processing technology, later expanding substantially into commercial ProAV. DVDO Today its portfolio includes HDMI and USB extenders, HDMI switches and matrix switchers, splitters, presentation switchers, AV-over-IP equipment, converters, PTZ and conferencing cameras, camera controllers, capture/streaming equipment, audio processors/amplifiers, and related connectivity products. DVDO markets these systems primarily for corporate, education, government, hospitality, healthcare, houses of worship, retail, and professional AV installations. DVDO

2 Most Seen Failures:

HDMI / HDCP Handshake Failure

DVDO processors frequently fail to authenticate correctly between HDMI sources and displays, resulting in a blue screen, blinking status LED, intermittent picture, or complete loss of video. Power cycling or forcing a new HDMI handshake may temporarily restore operation.

No Video Output

iScan, EDGE, Quick6, and Matrix6 units may detect or accept an input while producing no usable HDMI output. Common manifestations include a black screen, loss of picture after switching inputs, or output returning only after changing inputs, resetting EDID, or rebooting the processor.

HDMI Source Detection Failure

Connected HDMI devices may intermittently fail to be recognized, with the corresponding input remaining inactive despite a working source. Quick6 and Matrix6 documentation specifically provides alternate-input and capability-table procedures for sources that cannot be detected.

System Lockup / Unresponsive Controls

DVDO video processors can freeze with the front-panel controls, remote commands, menus, or input switching becoming unresponsive. Reports involving EDGE and iScan hardware describe temporary recovery after a complete power cycle or factory reset.

Power Supply / Power-Up Failure

Aging DVDO units can develop power problems ranging from unreliable startup and repeated resets to complete failure to power normally. EDGE units in particular have owner reports involving PSU replacement attempts, while Quick6 documentation explicitly addresses units that fail to power up properly.

Firmware Corruption / Update Failure

Firmware installation can fail or leave a DVDO processor unable to boot or operate correctly, particularly when update files are mismatched or the process is interrupted. Quick6 and Matrix6 include fail-safe recovery procedures specifically for corrupted firmware and failed USB updates.

CEC Control Malfunctions

HDMI-CEC communication can cause DVDO switchers and attached equipment to power down unexpectedly, pause playback, respond slowly, or behave unpredictably during source changes. DVDO's Quick6 troubleshooting documentation identifies excessive CEC traffic as a cause of slow menus and switching problems.

Video Tearing / Processing Artifacts

iScan processors can exhibit horizontal tearing, frame instability, color artifacts, or other visible processing errors even when the original source signal is clean. DVDO firmware history documents frame-buffer tearing and frame-rate-conversion problems, while iScan Duo owners have reported similar intermittent tearing and pixel/color artifacts.

Audio Output / HDMI Audio Failure

DVDO processors and switchers can lose HDMI audio, fail to route audio to an AVR, output only stereo, or develop audio-output problems after configuration or firmware changes. EDGE and Quick6 documentation and owner reports show audio-routing and HDMI-output compatibility as recurring trouble areas.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most DVDO devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
