DT Research repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

DT Research, Inc. is a U.S.-based computer hardware OEM founded in Silicon Valley in 1995 that develops and manufactures purpose-built computing equipment for demanding commercial, medical, government, military, industrial, transportation, and public-safety environments. Its product portfolio centers on rugged tablets and laptops, alongside tactical tablets, medical tablets, medical-cart computers, medical all-in-one PCs, medical monitors, industrial/micro PCs, POS devices, and digital-signage systems. The company is particularly known for ruggedized Windows computing platforms designed around durability requirements such as IP65 and MIL-STD-810H, with specialized options for data capture, communications, healthcare, defense, logistics, manufacturing, and field operations. 2 Most Seen Failures:

Battery Degradation / Failure

Lithium-polymer battery packs lose capacity, fail to hold a charge, discharge rapidly, or eventually stop powering the device. This is especially relevant across heavily cycled DT Research rugged and medical tablets using removable or hot-swappable battery packs.

LCD / Touchscreen Failure

Displays can develop cracked glass, dead or discolored areas, failed backlighting, image loss, or capacitive touch that becomes intermittent or completely unresponsive. DT Research specifically provides LCD-related accidental-damage coverage on many tablet warranty plans, making the display assembly a significant service item.

Charging / DC Power Input Failure

Tablets may stop charging, charge intermittently, or operate only from a charged battery because of worn DC-input/USB-C charging connectors, damaged contacts, adapter problems, or internal charging circuitry failure. Docking and charging interfaces are particularly susceptible to repeated insertion cycles in high-use deployments.

No Power / Mainboard Failure

A DT Research system may become completely unresponsive despite a known-good adapter and battery due to motherboard power-rail, regulator, protection-circuit, or other board-level faults. DT Research explicitly identifies the system board as a repair/replacement component under its warranty programs.

USB / I/O Port Failure

USB, Ethernet, serial, docking, or multifunction ports can become intermittent or cease functioning after extensive field use. Mechanical connector wear, bent contacts, contamination, damaged solder joints, and interface circuitry are common repair points on frequently docked rugged computers.

SSD / Storage Failure

Systems can fail to boot, intermittently lose the operating system, freeze, or report storage errors when their SSD develops faults or its connection deteriorates. Several DT Research rugged tablet families specifically use quick-access replaceable SSDs, allowing the storage device to be serviced without complete tablet disassembly.

Wi-Fi / Bluetooth Connectivity Failure

Wireless connectivity can become weak, intermittent, or completely unavailable because of WLAN module, antenna, antenna-cable, or board-level RF faults. Because DT Research rugged tablets commonly integrate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as primary field connectivity interfaces, these faults can substantially impair otherwise functional units.

Buttons / Switches / Control Failure

Power, brightness, programmable function, and other physical buttons may become intermittent or stop responding after extensive operation. Typical causes include worn switches, damaged button membranes or flex circuits, contamination, and broken connections between the control assembly and motherboard.

Camera / Barcode / RFID Module Failure

Integrated or optional cameras, barcode scanners, RFID/NFC readers, smart-card readers, and similar data-capture hardware can stop detecting devices, fail to scan, or operate intermittently. DT Research deploys these modules extensively across its rugged tablet families, adding several field-replaceable or board-connected subsystems that can independently fail.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
