D&M Holdings repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

D&M Holdings Inc. is a Japanese audio/video equipment manufacturer established in 2002 through the combination of Denon and Marantz. The company develops, engineers, manufactures, and markets premium consumer audio and home-entertainment hardware, particularly AV receivers and amplifiers, integrated and power amplifiers, SACD/CD players, network audio players, DACs, wireless/network speakers, soundbars, headphones, and related Hi-Fi components. Its principal brands include Denon and Marantz, with its broader corporate brand portfolio historically/currently associated with names including Polk Audio, Definitive Technology, Classé, HEOS, and Boston Acoustics. D&M is particularly known for high-performance Hi-Fi and home-theater electronics, with engineering operations in Kawasaki and Shirakawa and premium Japanese production centered at the Shirakawa Audio Works in Fukushima. D&M became part of Sound United in 2017; the wider audio group subsequently became part of Masimo and its consumer-audio business has undergone further corporate ownership changes.

2 Most Seen Failures:

HDMI / Video Board Failure

Denon and Marantz AV receivers commonly lose HDMI video or audio because of failed HDMI switch/processing ICs, board-level faults, or degraded connections. Symptoms include no HDMI output, intermittent video, HDCP/handshake errors, ARC/eARC failure, and 4K/HDR signal dropouts.

Protection Mode / Unexpected Shutdown

Receivers and amplifiers may immediately shut down or enter protection because the protection circuit detects excessive current, abnormal DC voltage, overheating, or an amplifier-stage fault. Persistent protection with speakers disconnected often indicates an internal output-stage or power-supply problem.

Amplifier Output Stage Failure

Power transistors and associated driver circuitry can fail, producing a dead channel, severe distortion, crackling, DC at the speaker output, or immediate protection shutdown. Thermal stress, electrical faults, and prolonged high-current operation can contribute to these failures.

CD / SACD Laser and Transport Failure

Denon and Marantz CD/SACD players frequently develop weak optical pickups or worn transport mechanisms. Typical symptoms include "No Disc," failure to read the TOC, skipping, long loading times, intermittent playback, or inability to recognize certain discs.

Power Supply / Capacitor Failure

Aging electrolytic capacitors, regulators, rectifiers, or other power-supply components can cause no-power conditions, startup problems, hum, reduced output, instability, or repeated shutdowns. Older Denon and Marantz amplifiers and receivers are particularly susceptible to capacitor-related degradation.

Speaker / Signal Relay Failure

Oxidized or worn relay contacts can cause one or more channels to disappear, become intermittent, crackle, or return after repeatedly cycling the unit. A receiver may appear to operate normally and its relay may click while little or no audio reaches the speakers.

Network / HEOS Connectivity Failure

Network-capable Denon and Marantz products can develop Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, or HEOS connectivity problems associated with network modules, control circuitry, or firmware. Units may disappear from the network, repeatedly disconnect, fail to initialize streaming functions, or lose network settings.

Thermal / Overheating Failure

AV receivers and integrated amplifiers can overheat because of inadequate cooling, excessive load, output-stage problems, or abnormal bias conditions. Typical symptoms are excessive chassis temperature, distortion after warm-up, thermal-protection shutdown, or operation that becomes unstable after several minutes.

Display / Front-Panel Failure

VFD/OLED displays and their associated power or driver circuits can gradually become dim, flicker, lose segments, or fail completely. Front-panel control and display faults are especially common as older Denon and Marantz equipment accumulates operating hours.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most D&M Holdings devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
  2. 2 Per information known, researched and collected by Acme Revival and its systems at time of page publishing (September 25, 2026).
