Digital Audio repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Digital Audio appears to have been a small U.S. audio-equipment brand best documented for large home and professional-style loudspeaker systems, including its Professional Series tower speakers. Surviving examples include the Digital Audio 6000EA, described as a large floor-standing loudspeaker using a 15-inch woofer, horn and multiple high-frequency drivers. The brand has a very limited surviving web presence, and I found no dependable current manufacturer website or corporate record identifying an active production operation. Because Digital Audio is an unusually generic brand name, it should not be confused with Digital Audio Labs (DAL) of Chanhassen, Minnesota, which is a separate, well-documented company producing professional audio electronics, Livemix monitoring equipment, Dante products, and OEM/ODM electronics.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Power Supply Failure

AX32 and related DAD rack interfaces can develop PSU faults resulting in failure to power up, unexpected shutdowns, or a PSU error indication. Dual-PSU models may continue operating on the remaining supply, potentially masking the failed module until inspected.

Cooling Fan Failure

Internal cooling fans can fail, slow down, or become noisy with age, producing a Fan Err condition on supported models. Loss of adequate airflow can subsequently raise internal temperatures and trigger additional protection or instability.

Overtemperature / Thermal Shutdown

Blocked ventilation, deteriorating fans, dust accumulation, or sustained high-temperature operation can cause excessive internal temperatures. DAD hardware reports temperature alarms when internal temperature exceeds its specified threshold and may become unstable until cooling is restored.

A/D or D/A I/O Card Failure

Modular converter cards can develop faults that result in missing analog channels, distorted audio, abnormal levels, or a CardErr indication. The failure may be isolated to one installed A/D or D/A card while the remainder of the interface continues operating.

Clock / Synchronization Failure

DAD converters can lose synchronization with Word Clock, AES, Dante, MADI, DigiLink, or another selected digital clock source. Typical symptoms include SyncErr warnings, red sync indicators, clicks or dropouts, and digital inputs that fail to pass audio correctly.

Network / Control Communication Failure

AX-series and Core-series units may become unreachable or unresponsive to DADman because of Ethernet interface, configuration, firmware, or control-path problems. In severe cases the hardware may require its recovery/reconfiguration mode to restore communications.

Digital I/O / Interface Failure

DigiLink, AES, MADI, ADAT, Dante, or other digital interfaces can stop passing or recognizing valid audio streams even though the main unit remains powered. Symptoms commonly resemble a routing problem but can originate from an I/O card, transceiver, connector, or associated interface circuitry.

Analog Channel Noise / Distortion

Aging or faulty analog input/output circuitry can produce elevated noise, distortion, DC offset, reduced level, or abnormal frequency response on individual channels. Reports concerning older DAD converter hardware also document analog-stage behavior such as DC offsets and unwanted noise.

Boot / Firmware Recovery Failure

DAD hardware can fail to complete normal startup following interrupted firmware programming, configuration corruption, or an internal boot fault. Affected units may show a general hardware error, fail to appear normally in DADman, or require the rear-panel recovery/reconfiguration procedure.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
