d&b audiotechnik repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

d&b audiotechnik is a German manufacturer of premium professional audio and sound-reinforcement systems, founded in 1981 and centered on its manufacturing operation in Backnang. The company develops integrated sound systems built around professional loudspeakers, subwoofers, amplifiers, signal processing/networking technology, accessories and system-control software. Rather than treating speakers as standalone products, d&b is particularly known for its integrated “system” approach in which loudspeakers, amplification, processing and software are engineered to operate together. Its equipment is used for touring and live entertainment as well as permanent installations in venues ranging from theaters and concert halls to arenas and stadiums. The company emphasizes German manufacturing and consistent, high-quality sound coverage across an audience, and today employs more than 1,000 people globally while supporting customers in more than 70 countries.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) Failure

Amplifier fails to start, repeatedly restarts, shuts down, or reports SMPS/Power-OK errors. Documented causes include defective SMPS hardware, internal supply-rail faults, and communication failures between the DSP and power supply.

Amplifier Output Stage Failure

One or more amplifier channels mute or stop producing output because of an internal amplifier fault. Typical indications include Amp Error, supply-rail faults, DC detected at the output, or internal amplifier communication errors.

Overheating / Thermal Shutdown

The amplifier or power supply reaches excessive temperature and reduces operation or shuts its outputs down to protect the hardware. Restricted airflow, inadequate cooling, heavy sustained loads, or a defective temperature-sensing circuit can cause or contribute to the condition.

Loudspeaker Driver / Voice-Coil Failure

An LF, MF or HF driver becomes open, disconnected, damaged, or electrically abnormal, resulting in partial or complete loss of output from a cabinet. d&b Load Monitoring is specifically designed to detect impedance changes associated with individual driver or loudspeaker failures.

Output Overcurrent / Short-Circuit Protection

An amplifier channel enters protection or mutes after detecting excessive output current. Common causes include shorted loudspeaker cabling, abnormally low load impedance, wiring faults, or a fault in the connected loudspeaker.

DSP / Digital Processing Failure

The amplifier fails to boot its DSP correctly, loses DSP communication, reports invalid DSP data, or mutes because the required processing program cannot operate. The fault can originate from DSP hardware, internal communications, corrupted/invalid data, or software/firmware problems.

Mains / Internal Supply-Rail Failure

The amplifier shuts down, refuses to start, or reports undervoltage, overvoltage, or missing internal supply rails. The source can be unstable external mains power, an overloaded amplifier stage, or failure within the SMPS or amplifier power circuitry.

Internal Communication / Control Electronics Failure

Communication between DSP, amplifier, SMPS, ADDAC, display, or other internal electronics fails and produces system or I2C/communication errors. Depending on the affected module, the unit may boot incorrectly, mute channels, lose control functionality, or require service.

Speaker Wiring / Ground Fault

Incorrect, damaged, shorted, or grounded loudspeaker wiring causes abnormal impedance, ground-fault, or protection indications. The amplifier may mute the affected output to protect itself and the loudspeaker until the external wiring fault is corrected.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most d&b audiotechnik devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
  2. 2 Per information known, researched and collected by Acme Revival and its systems at time of page publishing (September 25, 2026).
