DataLocker Inc. is a U.S. cybersecurity and secure-storage OEM specializing in hardware-encrypted portable storage and centralized device-management technology. Founded in 2007, the company develops encrypted USB flash drives, external hard drives and associated security/management software such as SafeConsole. Its products are aimed particularly at government, military, enterprise and other regulated environments where sensitive information must be securely stored and transported. DataLocker is known for hardware-based encryption, FIPS-validated products, TAA-compliant offerings and its IronKey/SafeConsole-related technology. The company says its technology is protected by more than 35 patents and is used by two-thirds of Fortune 100 companies as well as security and military organizations.
H300 and H350 encrypted hard drives can unexpectedly disconnect during operation. DataLocker identifies insufficient USB-port power and problematic USB connections as causes, which can interrupt access to the drive.
DL4 FE and Sentry K350 devices running Unified Client 6.5 or earlier can reject a valid SafeConsole password-reset operation with an "Incorrect Password" error. Affected devices may require a factory reset, resulting in loss of stored data.
The DL4 FE touchscreen can respond at the wrong location or otherwise behave inaccurately. DataLocker subsequently released fixes for touchscreen calibration problems and separately provides a recalibration procedure for the model.
The Sentry K350's integrated lithium-ion battery can become depleted, particularly after the device remains unused for several months. A low battery can interfere with normal standalone operation until the unit is charged, although the K350 can also operate using power supplied through USB.
H300 and H350 devices can hang while launching the Unlocker under affected macOS versions, including a documented issue with macOS 15 Sequoia. DataLocker's workaround is to unplug and reconnect the device and launch the Unlocker again.
DL4 FE devices have exhibited a firmware/client error when the display brightness is set to its lowest level. DataLocker documented the resulting "Set_Lcd_Brightnewss()" error and addressed brightness-related problems in later releases.
The Sentry K300 has had a documented condition in which the device could not be unlocked after its brute-force protection was triggered. DataLocker lists this behavior among defects corrected by subsequent software/firmware updates.
DataLocker hardware can fail to mount, initialize, reset, or permit password setup when connected to some computers. Documented causes include insufficient USB power, docks, endpoint/DLP or antivirus software, port-control software, other USB devices, and restrictive security policies.
Supported DataLocker devices have experienced metadata corruption under specific prolonged, continuous-use conditions. DataLocker identifies this as a software/firmware defect addressed in a later Unified Client release.
