Danby repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Danby is a Canadian-owned home-appliance OEM and distributor founded in 1947, specializing particularly in compact, apartment-size, and specialty appliances for small-space living. Its product portfolio includes compact and apartment refrigerators, freezers, wine and beverage coolers, microwaves, dishwashers, washing machines, ranges, ice makers, kegerators, dehumidifiers, portable and window air conditioners, air purifiers, and other small appliances. Danby designs and sources products while relying substantially on international manufacturing partners, with manufacturing partners located in China, Mexico, Turkey, Thailand, India, and the United States. The company is particularly associated with compact refrigeration and specialty appliances and distributes throughout North America as well as Mexico and the United Kingdom.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Compressor / Start Relay Failure

Danby refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, and air conditioners can fail to start or cool when the compressor start relay, overload protector, or compressor itself fails. Typical symptoms include clicking, humming without starting, intermittent operation, or complete loss of cooling.

Refrigerator Not Cooling

Compact refrigerators and beverage units commonly develop inadequate cooling from condenser airflow problems, failed condenser or evaporator fan motors, thermostat faults, or refrigeration-system problems. The compressor may run continuously while cabinet temperature remains too high.

Excessive Frost / Defrost System Failure

Danby refrigerators and freezers can develop heavy evaporator or rear-wall frost when the defrost timer/control, defrost thermostat, heater, drainage system, or door seal fails. Ice accumulation eventually restricts airflow and causes poor or uneven cooling.

Dehumidifier Not Collecting Water

Dehumidifiers may run without extracting moisture because of restricted airflow, dirty coils, bucket/float-switch problems, humidity-sensor issues, evaporator icing, or refrigeration-system failure. A failed compressor or refrigerant circuit can produce normal-looking fan operation with little or no water collection.

Portable Air Conditioner Not Cooling

Danby portable AC units can lose cooling performance from restricted filters, evaporator icing, poor condenser airflow, fan failure, compressor problems, or refrigeration-circuit faults. The unit may continue blowing room-temperature air despite being set to cooling mode.

Condensate Drain / Water Leakage Failure

Portable ACs, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, and dishwashers commonly develop water leaks from blocked drain passages, damaged drain pans or hoses, improperly seated tanks, deteriorated seals, or loose connections. Condensate can back up inside the cabinet and leak around the base.

Dishwasher Drain Pump Failure

Danby dishwashers can retain standing water when the drain pump motor or impeller fails or becomes obstructed. Clogged sump filters, drain hoses, valves, or control-board faults can produce the same no-drain symptom.

Dishwasher Water Inlet / Circulation Failure

Poor washing or filling can result from a defective water inlet valve, obstructed spray arms, restricted filters, or circulation-pump problems. These failures produce weak spray pressure, incomplete filling, poorly cleaned dishes, or interrupted wash cycles.

Fan Motor / Airflow Failure

Danby refrigerators, wine coolers, dehumidifiers, and air conditioners depend heavily on evaporator and condenser airflow. Worn fan motors, seized bearings, damaged blades, or airflow restrictions can cause overheating, icing, excessive compressor cycling, abnormal noise, and reduced cooling.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
