Water Pump Failure
The machine fails to move water from the reservoir through the internal system, sometimes pumping only air and producing no beverage. Multiple owners report recurring pump failures, including failures across replacement machines.
Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.
Cumulus Coffee is a U.S. coffee-technology company founded by former Starbucks executive Mesh Gelman, focused specifically on premium cold coffee preparation at home. Its principal hardware product is the Cumulus Machine, a countertop single-serve appliance engineered exclusively for cold beverages and capable of producing cold brew, nitro cold brew, and cold espresso in under a minute. The machine incorporates Cumulus's proprietary Cold Cloud technology to generate the texture and fine bubbles associated with nitro coffee without requiring an external nitrogen tank or cartridge. Cumulus Coffee Cumulus operates an integrated appliance-and-consumables system comprising the machine, recyclable coffee capsules, filters, cleaning products, and related drinkware/accessories.
The machine fails to move water from the reservoir through the internal system, sometimes pumping only air and producing no beverage. Multiple owners report recurring pump failures, including failures across replacement machines.
The machine dispenses substantially less than the expected 10 oz cold brew or 2 oz espresso serving. Cumulus identifies nozzle blockage as a typical cause of reduced beverage volume.
Nitro cold brew dispenses with little or no foam instead of its normal dense aerated head. Cumulus identifies restriction or blockage at the dispensing nozzle as a common cause.
The pop-up capsule holder remains mechanically locked and cannot be opened after brewing. Interrupted brew cycles, power loss, cleaning mode, or a stuck locking mechanism can leave the holder trapped in the closed position.
Pressing the brew button produces no beverage and the machine may respond only with blinking indicator lights. Causes documented by Cumulus include an empty or used capsule, insufficient water, an unfinished cooling/pumping cycle, or an interlock condition.
The machine remains in its blue-light cooling state and cannot immediately produce a drink. The refrigeration system normally requires roughly 10–15 minutes after startup or reservoir refill, while abnormal cooling behavior can prevent the machine from reaching brew-ready status.
The machine continues pumping or dispensing water instead of stopping after a normal beverage cycle. Cumulus documents this behavior when the unit inadvertently enters its purge or cleaning cycle, commonly after the brew button is held rather than tapped.
Mineral deposits and coffee residue can restrict internal water flow and eventually impair dispensing performance. Cumulus requires cleaning and filter replacement approximately every 150 brews and specifically states that filtration protects the machine from limescale formation and subsequent damage.
The machine may successfully purge its internal water but subsequently fail to refill or resume normal pumping and brewing. Owners have reported machines becoming effectively unusable after maintenance when the pump no longer draws water into the system.
