CTP Systems repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

CTP Systems is a British professional electronics manufacturer specializing in broadcast, live-production, sports-commentary and professional-audio infrastructure. The company designs and manufactures Dante-enabled network audio interfaces, analogue/digital audio converters, commentary and presenter boxes, camera talkback and IFB systems, monitoring units, distribution amplifiers, mixers, timecode equipment, tone generators and portable audio test instruments such as the dBbox series. CTP has also historically produced large numbers of custom broadcast products and systems for television companies and production facilities. Its equipment is primarily known for robust purpose-built broadcast audio interfacing, talkback/communications and Dante network integration rather than consumer electronics.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Power Supply / No-Power Failure

Unit will not start, resets unexpectedly, or loses power because of depleted batteries, failing internal power regulation, damaged DC/USB inputs, or mains/PoE supply faults. Portable dBbox/Testa models are particularly dependent on healthy battery and power-management circuitry.

Dante Network Connection Failure

Dante-equipped interfaces may disappear from the network, fail to pass audio, or lose routing because of Ethernet-port, network-interface, PoE, clocking, or configuration faults. Models such as the DIO8008R, DIO1600, DIO1616MA, and Dante monitor/commentary units depend heavily on stable network hardware.

Analogue Audio Channel Failure

One or more inputs or outputs become silent, distorted, noisy, or substantially lower in level due to failed analogue stages, op-amps, protection components, relays, or connector circuitry. This can affect mixers, distribution amplifiers, commentary boxes, monitoring units, and analogue/Dante interfaces.

Pushbutton / Encoder Control Failure

Front-panel keys, rotary controls, volume controls, or menu buttons become intermittent, unresponsive, or generate incorrect commands after extensive physical use. Portable test equipment, talkback units, mixers, and commentary boxes contain numerous frequently operated controls.

Connector / Jack Intermittency

XLR, BNC, headphone, USB, DIN, or Ethernet connections become intermittent or cease passing signal because of worn contacts, cracked solder joints, physical strain, or contamination. CTP equipment is commonly deployed in broadcast and field environments where connectors receive frequent mating cycles.

Firmware / Processor Lockup

The unit freezes, behaves incorrectly, retains erroneous settings, or certain functions stop operating until reset or firmware reinstallation. CTP has issued substantial firmware updates for products including the dBbox2, Testa, RMA400-series, and DIO8008R, addressing operational behavior and adding or refining functions.

Phantom Power / Microphone Preamp Failure

Microphone inputs may lose 48-volt phantom power, exhibit incorrect gain, excessive noise, or fail to amplify microphones properly because of phantom-generation or preamplifier circuitry faults. Many CTP commentary, microphone-amplifier, Dante I/O, and test products incorporate remotely or locally switched phantom power.

Display / Metering Failure

LCD, OLED, TFT, LED meters, or status indicators may become blank, dim, partially unreadable, frozen, or display incorrect level information. CTP uses displays and electronic metering extensively for gain setup, audio monitoring, routing status, and diagnostic functions.

Headphone / Internal Speaker Output Failure

Headphone outputs or built-in monitor speakers can become silent, distorted, intermittent, or abnormally low in volume because of amplifier-stage, socket-switching, speaker, or headphone-jack faults. These circuits are heavily used on dBbox/Testa testers, commentary equipment, and production-monitor products.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
