CremaxTech repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Cremax Tech Co., Ltd., established in Taiwan in 1994, is an electronics manufacturer focused on computer data-storage peripherals and is closely associated with the ICY DOCK brand. The company designs and manufactures removable drive enclosures, hot-swap drive bays, mobile racks, HDD/SSD adapters, RAID/storage enclosures, and related industrial-computer and server storage solutions. Its engineering capabilities include electronic-circuit design, mechanical/industrial design, and specialized storage systems for SATA, SAS, NVMe and historically SCSI devices. Cremax serves both branded and OEM markets and has developed a particularly strong reputation for rugged, tool-less and hot-swappable drive mounting systems used in workstations, servers, industrial computers and professional storage applications.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Drive Not Detected

Installed HDDs, SATA SSDs, NVMe SSDs, or U.2 drives may fail to appear to the host despite being physically installed. Common hardware-side causes include poor connector contact, worn sockets, incomplete tray insertion, defective interface electronics, or insufficient drive power.

Intermittent SATA / SAS Connector Contact

Hot-swap trays can develop intermittent data or power contact at the backplane connector, producing disappearing drives, link resets, or drives that only work after reseating. Cremax/ICY DOCK has previously documented connector contamination causing failed SATA connections on specific products.

Cooling Fan Failure or Excessive Fan Noise

Cooling fans can become noisy, develop bearing noise, slow down, or stop operating after extended use. Reduced airflow can raise drive and controller temperatures and may eventually cause thermal instability or shutdowns.

Insufficient Drive Power

High-current HDDs or multiple drives starting simultaneously can exceed available enclosure or USB power. Symptoms include drives failing to spin up, repeated disconnects, unstable detection, or the enclosure operating correctly only with lower-power drives.

Backplane / Interface PCB Failure

Failure of the enclosure backplane, controller circuitry, power regulation components, or interface PCB can disable one or several drive bays. The fault can resemble a failed HDD because the drive itself may work normally when connected directly to another interface.

USB / Host Interface Connection Failure

USB cables, USB connectors, or enclosure bridge circuitry can develop unreliable connections that cause the storage device to disconnect or disappear. Failed or marginal connections can also reduce transfer stability even while the enclosure's power LED remains illuminated.

Hot-Swap Bay / Tray Contact Failure

Repeated insertion and removal can wear drive connectors, tray contacts, and mechanical alignment points. Affected bays may detect drives inconsistently, require reseating, or stop recognizing otherwise functional drives.

Thermal Overheating

Dense multi-drive and high-performance NVMe configurations can generate enough heat to cause throttling, unstable operation, or premature electronic failure when airflow is inadequate. Fan-disabled or poorly ventilated installations are particularly susceptible.

Power / Status LED or Indicator Failure

Individual drive activity, power, or fault indicators can stop illuminating or report an incorrect state because of LED, wiring, connector, or backplane faults. This may occur even while the installed drive continues to function normally.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most CremaxTech devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
  2. 2 Per information known, researched and collected by Acme Revival and its systems at time of page publishing (September 25, 2026).
