Cre8audio is a small privately held electronic musical-instrument manufacturer focused on affordable modular and semi-modular synthesizer hardware. Founded around the late 2010s and legally organized in Nevada, the company operates with a distributed international team while manufacturing its hardware in China. It is best known for lowering the entry cost of Eurorack synthesis through products such as the NiftyCASE/NiftyBUNDLE ecosystem and for its distinctive East Beast and West Pest desktop synthesizers. Cre8audio also makes oscillators, filters, modulation modules, sequencers, drum machines, keyboard/Eurorack cases, and synth-oriented mixers. A significant part of its reputation comes from collaborations with Pittsburgh Modular, whose analog designs feature in several Cre8audio products.
NiftyCASE units can develop unstable, missing, or severely undervoltage +12V/-12V power rails, causing installed modules to freeze, behave erratically, produce noise, or fail to power. Reports specifically include failed -12V rails and replacement of the internal power board.
West Pest and East Beast units are repeatedly reported losing their main audio output while other portions of the synthesizer continue operating. Symptoms include total silence, extremely faint distorted audio, or residual wavefolder signal despite normal control activity.
The PCB-mounted 3.5 mm output jacks can become intermittent, mechanically break, or separate from the board, resulting in complete or intermittent loss of sound. Multiple West Pest/East Beast owners have reported failed main-output sockets requiring replacement.
East Beast and West Pest firmware has exhibited improper MIDI Note Off handling, producing notes that remain held after the controller releases them. Cre8audio firmware revisions specifically addressed compatibility with controllers using alternate Note Off messages.
NiftyCASE MIDI-to-CV output can produce pitch voltages at an unexpected octave or register, causing connected oscillators to play significantly higher than intended. Owners frequently describe one- or two-octave pitch discrepancies or difficulty accessing lower registers.
NiftyCASE and related Cre8audio hardware can fail to enumerate correctly over USB, preventing firmware updates or MIDI communication. Problems include Windows devices appearing as unknown hardware and Macs failing to recognize units through some USB-C hubs or adapters.
East Beast units can exhibit increasing pitch error across successive octaves even when a reference note is correctly tuned. Reported behavior includes poor 1V/oct tracking and noticeable tuning drift as notes move farther from the calibration point.
Chipz and Cellz modules in NiftyBUNDLE systems may arrive completely unpowered because their internal ribbon/power connections loosen during transportation. Cre8audio identifies this condition directly and instructs users to reseat the module power connections.
Chipz, Cellz, and other modules can fail to start, freeze with LEDs illuminated, or operate unpredictably because of inadequate, unstable, or incompatible Eurorack power. Failures may originate from the case power distribution, missing required voltage rails, ribbon connections, or degraded power-board circuitry.
