Compulab repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

CompuLab is an Israeli embedded-computing OEM founded in 1992 and best known for designing and manufacturing System-on-Modules (SoMs), Computer-on-Modules (CoMs), single-board computers, industrial IoT gateways, edge computers, and compact fanless industrial PCs. The company performs production in-house and has specialized particularly in long-life embedded platforms and passive/fanless thermal designs for applications where reliability, low power consumption, extended product availability, and operation in demanding environments are important. Its computing modules have been incorporated into medical, industrial-automation, transportation, telecommunications, aerospace and marine equipment; notably, a CompuLab COMEX-IE38 module was used aboard NASA's Perseverance Mars rover. CompuLab emphasizes long product lifecycles—including 15-year availability for many embedded products—configure-to-order manufacturing, direct engineering support, and production-ready Linux/Android/Windows software packages.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Power Supply / No-Power Failure

CompuLab fit-PC, fitlet and IPC systems may fail to power on or wake because of a defective external PSU, damaged DC cable, unstable input power, or failure in the board-level power circuitry. A known-good adapter is commonly used to isolate PSU versus computer failure.

RAM Failure / No POST

Failed, incompatible, improperly seated, or incorrectly positioned SO-DIMM memory can prevent CompuLab systems from completing POST or booting. Some models are particularly sensitive to memory type and slot placement.

SSD / HDD Failure

Failed or electrically faulty SSDs and hard drives can cause boot failures, freezes, or even prevent a CompuLab computer from powering up normally. Storage devices are commonly disconnected during troubleshooting to determine whether the drive is loading or disrupting the system.

BIOS / CMOS Corruption

Corrupted or invalid BIOS configuration can leave fit-PC, fitlet, and IPC systems unable to boot, display video, or initialize hardware correctly. CompuLab provides model-specific BIOS/RTC reset procedures for recovering affected systems.

No Display Output

CompuLab miniature PCs can power up while producing no usable HDMI or DisplayPort video output. Causes can include BIOS state, memory initialization failure, display negotiation problems, cabling, or faults in the graphics/display-output circuitry.

Intermittent Boot / Failure to Wake

Some fitlet systems exhibit intermittent startup behavior where the computer periodically fails to boot after the power button is pressed or fails to resume normally. Power, RAM, attached peripherals, storage, and BIOS state are primary areas isolated during diagnosis.

Peripheral / USB Fault Causing System Failure

Defective USB devices, drives, or other attached peripherals can prevent certain CompuLab systems from starting or operating normally. CompuLab recommends stripping the system to minimum hardware and reconnecting peripherals individually to identify the offending device or interface.

Ethernet / Network Interface Failure

CompuLab embedded computers rely heavily on integrated Ethernet interfaces, making loss of link, unstable connectivity, or failure of an onboard Ethernet controller a significant field fault. Diagnosis typically separates software/driver configuration from PHY, magnetics, connector, or board-level network-interface failure.

eMMC / Embedded Boot Storage Failure

CompuLab SOMs and SBCs frequently use onboard eMMC as their primary operating-system storage, so corruption or physical degradation can result in boot loops, missing operating systems, read/write errors, or complete failure to boot. Recovery may require reflashing the eMMC, while persistent programming or read errors can indicate failed flash hardware.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
