Chelsio repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Chelsio Communications is a privately held networking and semiconductor technology company specializing in high-performance Ethernet connectivity, SmartNIC/DPU technology, network adapters and custom networking ASICs for data centers, cloud infrastructure, storage systems and high-performance computing. Its core technology is the Terminator family of protocol-processing ASICs, now extending through the seventh-generation T7 platform, which powers Chelsio's Unified Wire adapters and provides hardware acceleration/offload for technologies such as TCP/IP, iWARP and RoCE RDMA, iSCSI, NVMe-oF/NVMe-TCP, FCoE, TLS and IPsec. Chelsio's distinguishing approach is to offload networking, storage and security workloads from server CPUs onto its programmable silicon, allowing Ethernet infrastructure to handle multiple traditionally separate network and storage protocols. Its current portfolio includes high-speed Ethernet adapters/SmartNICs, T5/T6/T7 ASIC technology, Unified Storage Server solutions, software and related connectivity products, with applications spanning enterprise and hyperscale data centers, AI infrastructure, storage, cloud computing and HPC.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Link Failure / Port Not Establishing Connection

One or more Ethernet ports remain down, intermittently lose link, or fail to negotiate at the expected speed. Common causes include failed SFP/QSFP interfaces, PHY problems, incompatible optics or cables, and damaged port circuitry.

Adapter Not Detected by Host

The Chelsio PCIe adapter is missing from the operating system or is not enumerated during boot. Typical hardware causes include PCIe interface faults, power-regulation failure, damaged edge connectors, or failure of the adapter ASIC.

Firmware / Flash Corruption

The adapter initializes incorrectly, disappears after an update, reports firmware errors, or becomes effectively unusable. Corrupted or incompatible firmware, configuration data, or option-ROM contents can prevent normal initialization and may require reflashing the adapter.

System Boot Hang with Adapter Installed

The host freezes or stalls during POST or UEFI initialization when a Chelsio adapter is installed. This has been specifically documented with some T5 configurations involving UEFI Option ROM execution and adapter firmware.

Intermittent Disconnects / Adapter Resets

Network connectivity periodically drops and the adapter resets, reconnects, or stops passing traffic until the interface or system is restarted. Firmware faults, PCIe communication errors, thermal instability, power problems, or failing adapter electronics can produce this behavior.

SFP+/SFP28/QSFP Port or Transceiver Detection Failure

An installed optical module or DAC is not recognized, repeatedly disconnects, or fails to establish a usable link. Faults can originate in the module/cable, cage contacts, PHY circuitry, or the adapter's transceiver interface.

PCIe Link Width / Performance Failure

The adapter operates at reduced PCIe width or bandwidth, resulting in unexpectedly poor network throughput. Slot configuration can cause this, but damaged PCIe lanes, connector problems, or board-level signal-integrity faults can produce similar symptoms.

Overheating / Thermal Instability

The adapter becomes unstable under sustained high-throughput workloads, with link drops, resets, or complete loss of communication. Restricted server airflow, heatsink problems, or heat-stressed ASIC and power circuitry are common hardware-level suspects.

10GBASE-T PHY / Ethernet PHY Failure

Copper-port models may fail to establish 10GbE links, negotiate only at lower speeds, or exhibit intermittent connectivity. Chelsio's driver architecture includes specific handling and firmware initialization for external 10GBASE-T PHYs, making the PHY and its supporting circuitry a key failure point on affected adapters.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
