Chase Bliss Audio repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Chase Bliss Audio is an American boutique professional-audio electronics manufacturer founded by electrical engineer Joel Korte in 2013. The company specializes in premium effects pedals and creative audio processors for guitarists, synthesizer users, producers, and recording artists. It is particularly known for unusually deep sound-design capabilities, combining analog and/or digital audio processing with extensive digital control, MIDI, presets, modulation, parameter automation, and highly configurable physical interfaces. Its catalog has included products such as Warped Vinyl, Tonal Recall, MOOD, Blooper, Habit, Generation Loss, Lossy, Onward, Clean, and Automatone-series devices, along with collaborations with other boutique audio designers. Chase Bliss has developed a strong reputation in the boutique pedal market for experimental effects, sophisticated engineering, distinctive compact hardware, and devices intended to function as creative sound-design instruments rather than conventional single-purpose guitar effects.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Power Input / Power-Protection Failure

Incorrect voltage, polarity, or unsuitable power supplies can damage the pedal's power-input circuitry and produce a completely dead unit or one that powers up but passes no audio. Chase Bliss specifically documents wrong-power damage as a cause of failed Preamp MKII and Warped Vinyl units requiring repair.

Footswitch Intermittency or Failure

The bypass, preset, record, and auxiliary footswitches can develop intermittent contacts or stop registering after repeated mechanical use. Symptoms include missed presses, double triggering, inconsistent bypass operation, or functions that only respond when the switch is pressed at a particular angle.

MIDI / Control-Port Communication Failure

Chase Bliss pedals frequently present as unable to receive MIDI commands, presets, clock, or external control when the TRS MIDI path, connector, isolation, or associated interface develops a problem. A damaged MIDI jack or input circuit should be suspected after cable type, MIDI channel, ring/tip configuration, controller setup, and MIDIbox operation have been verified.

Audio Input / Output Jack Failure

Repeated plugging and pedalboard cable strain can cause worn contacts, cracked solder joints, or mechanical damage around the 1/4-inch I/O jacks. Typical symptoms are intermittent audio, signal loss, crackling when the plug is moved, loss of one stereo channel, or bypass audio with no reliable effected signal.

Potentiometer / Knob Control Failure

High-use rotary controls can develop noisy, erratic, or dead regions from contamination, mechanical wear, or failure of the potentiometer/encoder or its PCB connection. The pedal may jump between parameter values, fail to respond through part of the rotation, or produce scratching and abrupt parameter changes.

Automatone Motorized Fader Malfunction

Preamp MKII and other Automatone hardware can exhibit faders that stick, fail to reach a commanded position, behave erratically, or stop moving when presets are recalled. Diagnosis should distinguish an actual motor/fader or driver failure from excessive MIDI message traffic, which is documented to cause apparent "sticky" fader behavior.

Analog Signal-Path / BBD Failure

Analog Chase Bliss models such as Thermae, Tonal Recall, and Warped Vinyl depend on BBD and supporting analog circuitry that can develop weak, distorted, noisy, or absent wet audio. Common bench symptoms include greatly reduced delay/modulation level, abnormal distortion, excessive noise, or dry bypass working while the processed path does not.

Digital DSP / Boot or Audio-Processing Failure

DSP-heavy models such as MOOD, blooper, Habit, Generation Loss MKII, Lossy, and Onward can develop failures where the unit powers but processing, looping, memory, or wet audio no longer operates correctly. Once power, configuration, DIP-switch states, and documented operating modes are eliminated, the DSP/control PCB, memory, converters, clock circuitry, or firmware storage becomes a primary diagnostic area.

PCB Connector / Solder-Joint Intermittency

Mechanical stress around jacks, switches, potentiometers, and board connections can create intermittent solder or connector faults that appear only when the enclosure, control, or cable is moved. These faults commonly present as random audio dropout, intermittent power, unreliable controls, or a pedal that works after being tapped or flexed.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
