ChamSys repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Professional Lighting Control
End Use Segment

ChamSys Ltd is a British professional entertainment-lighting technology manufacturer founded in 2003 and now part of the Chauvet family. The company specializes in lighting-control consoles, control software, PC/console interfaces, DMX and Ethernet networking hardware, media-control systems, network nodes, switches, gateways, splitters, and installation controllers. It is best known for its MagicQ professional lighting-control ecosystem, including the MagicQ Stadium and Compact console families, alongside the more accessible QuickQ console platform and GeNetix networking and DMX-distribution products. ChamSys equipment is used by lighting designers and technicians in concerts and touring productions, theatres, television and film, houses of worship, nightclubs, architectural installations, and other live-production environments. Its systems emphasize scalable show control, high DMX-universe counts, real-time reliability, visualization, pixel mapping, and integration with professional lighting networks

2 Most Seen Failures:

Fader Failure / Erratic Fader Readings

Playback faders can develop worn or noisy potentiometers that produce jumping, unstable, or incorrect level values. MagicQ specifically provides fader hysteresis and a Faulty Faders Mask to compensate for defective controls.

Rotary Encoder Failure / Erratic Encoder Movement

Rotary encoders can become intermittent, skip values, move parameters unexpectedly, or generate electrical noise as they wear. ChamSys provides encoder testing, damping, hysteresis, and the ability to disable faulty encoders.

Touchscreen Failure / Incorrect Touch Response

MagicQ console touchscreens can stop registering input, respond at incorrect coordinates, or generate unintended presses. Causes include failed or deteriorating touch hardware, contamination around the screen edges, liquid ingress, mechanical pressure, or calibration problems.

LCD Display / Display Connection Failure

Console displays can become blank, white, distorted, show vertical lines, or intermittently lose their image. Documented causes include poor display-cable connections, contaminated connectors, backlight/display faults, graphics initialization problems, or loss of the video signal from the main processor.

Front Panel Communication Failure

MagicQ consoles can lose communication between the front-panel controller and the main processor, causing buttons, faders, encoders, or entire control sections to stop responding. Flashing Select/S-button LEDs are a documented indication of this condition, with the interconnect cable, front-panel electronics, or processor interface among the likely hardware causes.

Motorized Fader Motor Failure

Motorized faders on supported MagicQ consoles and Wings can become weak, intermittent, stuck, or completely nonfunctional as their mechanical drive components wear. ChamSys specifically warns that excessive motor movement increases wear and provides individual faulty-motor masks for failed fader motors.

Boot Failure / Main Processor or Storage Failure

MagicQ consoles may fail to boot, continuously restart, freeze during startup, or produce kernel-related errors when processor, storage, connection, or other internal hardware faults occur. Some models also have model-specific boot issues, such as the MQ80 remaining blank when required BIOS display settings are lost.

Internal UPS Battery / Power-Fail System Failure

MagicQ models equipped with an internal UPS can develop deteriorated or insufficiently charged backup batteries, resulting in reduced runtime or unreliable power-loss protection. ChamSys specifically requires periodic charging to maintain battery condition and UPS performance.

Buttons / Key Switches Sticking or Failing

Frequently used programming, playback, soft, and command buttons can become intermittent, stuck, or fail to register presses. A defective or stuck switch can also create repeated key presses and unexpected window or console operations, with ChamSys recommending board-test mode to identify the affected control.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
