Canor repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

CANOR is a Slovak high-end audio electronics manufacturer and OEM/contract manufacturer specializing particularly in vacuum-tube and audiophile electronics. Founded from a background in tube-amplifier development, the company designs and manufactures products under the CANOR brand while also performing contract manufacturing for other international Hi-Fi brands. Its product portfolio includes integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers, preamplifiers, phono preamps, DACs, CD players and hybrid/solid-state electronics. CANOR is particularly known for its expertise in vacuum-tube amplification, proprietary tube-testing and matching systems, and unusually high level of vertical integration. Its Prešov facilities perform PCB/SMT assembly, CNC machining, chassis production, brushing, sandblasting, anodizing, assembly, EMC testing, audio measurements, burn-in and listening tests in-house.

2 Most Seen Failures:

[Vacuum tube degradation or failure]

Tube-equipped CANOR models can develop weak, noisy, microphonic, or failed valves over their service life, causing hum, noise, distortion, reduced output, or loss of a channel. Tube replacement and, on older designs, correct bias adjustment may be required.

[One audio channel loses output]

A left or right channel may become completely silent because of an internal circuit, relay, tube-stage, or signal-path fault. An independent Stereophile test of the Hyperion P1 documented a persistent dead right channel even after cables and tubes were checked and swapped.

[Overtemperature shutdown]

CANOR amplifiers can enter thermal protection when output stages become too hot, particularly when ventilation is restricted or cooling is inadequate. Protected models disconnect their output stages until the equipment has cooled.

[Overcurrent / speaker-load protection]

Excessive current caused by prolonged overload, speaker-terminal shorts, or unsuitable low-impedance speakers can trigger protection and interrupt playback. CANOR's Virtus A3 explicitly monitors these conditions and disconnects its amplifier output stages when a persistent fault is detected.

[DC voltage detected at amplifier output]

A DC fault can cause CANOR protection circuitry to disconnect or flag the affected amplifier channel. The condition can originate in an external source or internally; CANOR documentation states that a persistent DC fault requires service.

[Cooling fan failure or obstruction]

Fan-cooled CANOR models can report a fan-stop condition when a cooling fan fails or its grille becomes obstructed. Loss of cooling can subsequently contribute to excessive internal temperature and thermal protection.

[Hum, noise, or tube-related channel noise]

Tube or tube-contact problems can produce audible hum or unwanted noise in one channel. A Virtus A3 review unit, for example, developed right-channel hum that disappeared after its tubes were repositioned.

[Digital/USB playback produces no analogue audio]

CANOR DAC/CD hardware can encounter cases where a digital source appears connected or recognized but no analogue sound reaches the system. Likely troubleshooting areas include source/input selection, digital format or driver compatibility, output configuration, and signal connections.

[Power-up / no-power condition]

A CANOR component may appear completely dead because of mains connection, power-cord, switch, fuse, or internal power-supply problems. CANOR's own CD-player troubleshooting documentation lists the mains connection as the first check for a completely non-operational unit.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
