Cable Matters Inc. is a U.S.-based connectivity and computer-peripheral brand founded in 2009 that develops and sells cables, adapters, docking stations, networking products, chargers, AV connectivity products, wall plates, patch panels, and related computer/electronics accessories. Its portfolio centers on technologies such as USB/USB-C, Thunderbolt, HDMI, DisplayPort and Ethernet, serving consumer, IT, home-office and professional connectivity applications. The company is particularly associated with high-speed data/video cables and adapters and generally relies on external OEM/ODM manufacturers to produce Cable Matters-branded products. For example, Cable Matters publicly identified Lintes Technology as the manufacturer of one of its Thunderbolt 4 cables, while customs records document numerous additional Asian suppliers.
HDMI or DisplayPort output stops working, produces no signal, or works only intermittently. The problem commonly appears after reconnecting the adapter, waking the computer from sleep, or when host firmware, graphics drivers, or USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode support is incompatible.
Connected monitors repeatedly flicker, blank out, or momentarily lose their video signal. Cable Matters documents this across multiple USB-C hubs and docking stations, often in connection with host firmware, graphics drivers, or connection instability.
The Ethernet interface disappears, fails to initialize, or is not detected by the operating system. This is documented across numerous Cable Matters adapters and docks and can result from driver, operating-system, chipset, or USB-C compatibility problems.
An established wired network connection repeatedly drops and reconnects during use. Cable Matters specifically documents recurring Ethernet disconnections on some host systems, including certain Dell computers.
USB peripherals intermittently disconnect, disappear, or fail to enumerate through a Cable Matters hub or dock. The issue is especially associated with bus-powered configurations, high-power peripherals, overloaded hubs, and unstable host connections.
A connected laptop fails to charge, charges more slowly than expected, or stops receiving USB-C Power Delivery through the adapter or dock. Available reports also include cases where pass-through Power Delivery initially worked and subsequently failed.
The entire Cable Matters adapter, dock, switch, or one or more of its ports may suddenly stop being detected by the host computer. Recovery frequently requires disconnecting the hardware, restarting the host, and reconnecting all devices.
Wireless keyboards and mice connected through some Cable Matters USB 3.x docks can experience lag, missed keystrokes, or unreliable connectivity. Cable Matters attributes this recurring behavior to 2.4 GHz radio interference generated around USB 3.x connections.
Displays, USB peripherals, or other dock functions may fail to return after the computer wakes from sleep or the hardware is reconnected. Users may need to unplug and reconnect the device or restart the computer before normal operation returns.
