BUNN- O- Matic repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

BUNN-O-Matic Corporation, commonly known as BUNN, is a major American manufacturer of commercial beverage preparation and dispensing equipment founded by George R. Bunn and formally incorporated in 1963. The company grew from its pioneering flat-bottom coffee filters and commercial drip brewers into a broad foodservice-equipment manufacturer producing commercial coffee brewers, grinders, espresso systems, iced-tea brewers, hot-water dispensers, frozen/granita machines, juice and specialty-beverage dispensers, bean-to-cup systems, and related beverage equipment. BUNN is particularly well known in restaurants, convenience stores, offices, hospitality, institutional foodservice, and commercial coffee service for durable high-volume brewing equipment. Most of its commercial equipment is assembled in the United States, particularly at its Illinois and Iowa facilities. In March 2026, BUNN joined Ali Group and now operates in North America as part of the Welbilt portfolio, ending its long history as an independent family-controlled manufacturer.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Clogged Sprayhead / Restricted Brew Flow

Mineral scale, coffee residue, and debris commonly clog BUNN sprayhead openings and internal water passages, resulting in slow brewing, uneven saturation, weak coffee, or incomplete brew cycles. Descaling and sprayhead cleaning are among the most frequently specified remedies in BUNN documentation.

Heating Element / Tank Heater Failure

Tank heating elements can fail open or lose heating performance, causing cold or lukewarm beverages, excessively long warm-up times, or heating-related fault messages. High-limit thermostats and associated heater circuits should also be checked when the tank will not reach operating temperature.

Water Inlet Solenoid Valve Failure

The inlet solenoid can become obstructed, electrically fail, or stick open or closed, causing slow filling, no water entering the tank, continuous filling, or overflow. BUNN diagnostics specifically identify inlet-solenoid failure as a common cause of excessive fill times.

Thermostat / Temperature Sensor Failure

Thermostats, thermistors, and temperature probes can drift, open, short, or provide incorrect readings to the controller. Typical symptoms include overheating, insufficient brew temperature, heating lockouts, excessive steaming, and temperature-sensor error messages.

Mineral Scale / Lime Buildup

Hard-water deposits accumulate on heaters, probes, valves, sprayheads, and tank passages, producing restricted water flow, abnormal heating noises, dripping, poor temperature regulation, and extended brew times. Severe scaling can contribute to secondary heater and valve failures.

Brew Funnel Overflow

BUNN brewers frequently experience funnel overflow when the sprayhead is missing or incorrect, flow is excessive, the filter is unsuitable, grounds restrict drainage, or the funnel is improperly loaded. Restricted or improperly calibrated water delivery can further aggravate overflowing.

Control Board / Timer Failure

Electronic control boards, timers, and relays can fail to initiate or terminate brew, fill, or heating cycles correctly. Symptoms include a brew cycle that will not start, continuous filling, interrupted brewing, abnormal heater operation, or components that test correctly individually but are not being commanded.

Leaks / Failed Seals and Gaskets

Aging sprayhead seals, tank gaskets, fittings, valve seals, and beverage-path seals can allow water to leak internally or around the brew assembly. BUNN documentation specifically identifies damaged or improperly seated sprayhead seals as a cause of external water leakage on applicable models.

Grinder Motor / Burr and Dispensing Failure

BUNN grinders commonly develop motor-overload trips, worn grinding components, hopper or grind-chamber blockages, damaged shear plates, or dispensing-control faults. These failures can produce a grinder that will not start, runs without dispensing beans, jams under load, or delivers an inconsistent grind.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
