Buffalo repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

BUFFALO INC. is a Japanese computer-hardware and networking manufacturer best known for network-attached storage (NAS), Wi-Fi routers and access points, external hard drives and SSDs, network switches, memory products, and other computer peripherals. Its best-known professional storage families include TeraStation, while LinkStation has been a major consumer/SOHO NAS line. BUFFALO serves both consumer and business markets, with particular strength in storage and networking hardware, and manufactures products in both Japan and China depending on the product family. Following the April 2025 restructuring in which Melco Holdings absorbed the former BUFFALO subsidiary and adopted the BUFFALO name, the company has increasingly focused its business on the IT-related segment.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Hard Drive Failure

Internal HDDs develop bad sectors, mechanical faults, or read/write errors, causing red status LEDs, degraded RAID arrays, missing disks, or inaccessible data. Buffalo commonly identifies these as E15, E16, E23, or E30 errors depending on the model.

Firmware / Emergency Mode Boot Failure

LinkStation and TeraStation units may fail to boot normally because of corrupted firmware, interrupted updates, damaged system partitions, or disk read errors. Affected units may remain in Emergency Mode, report boot errors, or become inaccessible through NAS Navigator.

RAID Array Degradation or Failure

One or more failing drives can cause RAID arrays to enter degraded mode, become unmountable, or disappear entirely. RAID rebuilds can also fail when another disk develops errors during reconstruction.

Cooling Fan Failure

Internal cooling fans can seize, slow down, become obstructed by dust, or develop electrical/control faults. Buffalo systems commonly report an E11 fan error and may shut down or experience elevated internal temperatures.

Overheating / Cooling Failure

Restricted airflow, failed fans, accumulated dust, or prolonged heavy operation can push internal temperatures beyond acceptable limits. Buffalo identifies excessive-temperature conditions with warnings such as I10 and cooling-related E12 errors.

Drive Detection / Mount Failure

LinkStation and TeraStation systems sometimes fail to detect or mount an installed disk because of a failed drive, poor connection, filesystem corruption, or storage-controller problem. Typical symptoms include E16 "drive not found" and E22 "cannot mount" errors.

Power Supply / No-Power Failure

Aging external adapters, internal power supplies, power circuitry, or voltage-regulation components can prevent Buffalo NAS hardware from starting or cause intermittent shutdowns. Older units may appear completely dead, repeatedly restart, or fail partway through boot.

Mainboard / Storage Controller Failure

Motherboard faults involving RAM, HDD controllers, internal controllers, or supporting circuitry can prevent booting or communication with otherwise functional drives. Buffalo documentation includes controller, DRAM, MPU, and circuit-board error conditions among its hardware fault codes.

Network / Ethernet Connectivity Failure

Buffalo NAS units can become unreachable because of Ethernet interface, LAN controller, port, or network-configuration failures even while the storage system remains powered. Symptoms include disappearing from NAS Navigator, loss of web-interface access, dropped network connections, or inability to obtain a usable network connection.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Buffalo devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
  2. 2 Per information known, researched and collected by Acme Revival and its systems at time of page publishing (September 22, 2026).
