Broadcom repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

End Use Segment

Broadcom Inc. is a major semiconductor and infrastructure-software company whose hardware operations design and supply highly integrated chips and specialized semiconductor components for data-center networking, AI infrastructure, Ethernet switching and routing, broadband access, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity, smartphones, storage systems, fiber-optic communications and industrial applications. Broadcom is especially known for networking silicon, custom accelerators/ASICs, switch chips, connectivity ICs, RF/FBAR components and optical-communications technology. Its manufacturing model is predominantly outsourced: Broadcom designs its semiconductor products and relies heavily on contract foundries—most importantly TSMC—for wafer fabrication, while retaining selected proprietary manufacturing processes at its own facilities in the United States and Singapore. This hybrid approach allows Broadcom to outsource standard semiconductor processes while internally manufacturing strategically important technologies such as FBAR filters and III-V optical semiconductor components.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Controller Overheating / Thermal Shutdown

MegaRAID and HBA controllers can overheat when chassis airflow across the heatsink is insufficient, resulting in thermal protection, controller resets, and dropped drives. Persistent high temperatures can reduce controller longevity and potentially take virtual drives offline.

RAID Drives Dropping / Disappearing

MegaRAID controllers may unexpectedly lose attached SAS, SATA, or NVMe drives, causing disks to appear missing, failed, unconfigured-bad, or removed from an array. Firmware problems, SCSI sense errors, cabling/backplane faults, and controller resets are common contributors.

BBU / CacheVault Failure

MegaRAID battery backup units and CacheVault modules can become degraded, report low capacity, fail charging or require replacement. A failed cache-protection module can force the controller from write-back into slower write-through operation and leave cached data vulnerable during power loss.

NetXtreme Ethernet Link Drops

Broadcom NetXtreme and NetXtreme-E adapters can experience intermittent link-down events, port flapping, or complete loss of network traffic. Documented cases include firmware crashes and driver/firmware compatibility problems that leave the NIC temporarily unresponsive.

Controller Firmware Crash / Reset

MegaRAID, HBA, and NetXtreme controllers can encounter firmware faults that force the hardware to reset or stop responding to the host. Symptoms include HWRM timeouts on Ethernet adapters, RAID controller reset events, disappearing drives, and temporary loss of I/O.

RAID Controller Not Detected

MegaRAID cards can fail to enumerate correctly during POST, in the motherboard BIOS, or within the operating system. PCIe compatibility, firmware state, driver problems, SafeMode conditions, or controller hardware faults can cause the adapter to appear completely missing.

RAID Cache / Memory Failure

MegaRAID controllers can report cache-memory errors that result in cached data being discarded or becoming unrecoverable. These failures may be associated with controller memory, cache-protection hardware, unexpected power loss, or firmware incompatibility.

RAID Array Offline / Virtual Drive Inaccessible

MegaRAID virtual drives can become offline, access-blocked, foreign, or otherwise unavailable when member disks disappear or controller configuration information becomes inconsistent. This commonly follows drive failures, controller replacement, resets, or unsuccessful foreign-configuration imports.

Firmware / Driver Compatibility Failure

Broadcom controllers and NICs can malfunction when firmware, drivers, system BIOS, or operating-system versions are incompatible. Symptoms range from Code 10/driver-load failures and failed firmware updates to network outages, RAID drive drops, and controllers failing to initialize.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Broadcom devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
