Brady repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

End Use Segment

Brady Corporation is a global industrial technology manufacturer best known for identification, labeling, workplace-safety, and asset-tracking products. Its hardware portfolio includes industrial label and sign printers, handheld and benchtop identification printers, barcode/data-capture equipment, mobile computing devices, safety and lockout/tagout products, and related automated identification systems. Brady also manufactures specialized labels, signs, tags, wire and cable identification products and develops supporting software for tracking, printing, compliance, and workflow automation. Its products are widely used in manufacturing, electronics, healthcare and laboratories, logistics, telecommunications, aerospace, construction, and other industrial environments where durable identification and safety compliance are important.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Printhead Pixel Failure

Thermal printhead elements can burn out or become damaged, producing permanent vertical white lines, missing print, or repeated voids in the same position on every label. A mechanically failed printhead generally requires replacement rather than adjustment or cleaning.

Label Feed / Media Jam

Labels can jam in the feed path, exit chute, rollers, or cutter area, preventing material from advancing. Adhesive buildup, debris, damaged media, incorrect loading, or mechanical feed problems are common contributors.

Calibration / Media Detection Failure

The printer may continuously feed labels, skip labels, print between labels, report false media-out errors, or lose print alignment when media sensors cannot correctly detect gaps or notches. Dirty or mispositioned sensors and mechanical sensor failures are common causes.

Ribbon Feed / Ribbon Drive Failure

The ribbon may stop advancing, break, wrinkle, or fail to maintain proper tension, resulting in blank labels, faded printing, voids, or clicking noises. Failures can involve the ribbon spindle, take-up mechanism, cartridge, or associated drive components.

Cutter Failure / Poor Cutting

Brady printer cutters can stop cutting, jam, or produce incomplete and poor-quality cuts when label fragments or adhesive accumulate around the blade mechanism. Worn or mechanically damaged cutter assemblies can eventually require service or replacement.

Platen Roller Wear

The platen roller can develop wear, deformation, or concave areas that reduce contact between the label, ribbon, and printhead. Typical symptoms include faded print, uneven print density, feeding problems, and inconsistent label positioning.

Power / Battery Failure

Portable Brady printers may fail to power on, unexpectedly reset, or display printing errors when batteries are weak, charging systems malfunction, or internal power components fail. Some models specifically report generic printing errors when available battery power is insufficient.

Media / Ribbon Memory Recognition Failure

Printers that electronically identify Brady supplies can develop errors reading media or ribbon memory cells, producing errors such as unrecognized media, ribbon-out, media-out, or cartridge validation failures. Persistent faults may originate in cartridge memory devices, contacts, sensors, or the printer's reader circuitry.

Display / Control Electronics Failure

Brady printers can experience frozen touchscreens, blank LCDs, unresponsive keyboards, or application-level fatal errors that prevent normal operation. Power cycling may temporarily restore operation, but recurring symptoms can indicate keypad, display, controller, or internal electronics failure.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Brady devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
  2. 2 Per information known, researched and collected by Acme Revival and its systems at time of page publishing (September 25, 2026).
