BOXX Technologies repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

BOXX Technologies is a U.S. computer-hardware manufacturer specializing in high-performance professional computing systems. Founded in 1996 and based in Austin, BOXX designs and manufactures its APEXX deskside workstations, RAXX rackmount workstations, Creator PCs, rendering and simulation systems, GPU/AI workstations, and high-performance servers for demanding professional applications. Its systems are primarily used for CAD and engineering, product design, architecture and construction, visual effects, animation, 3D rendering, broadcast production, simulation, data science, and AI development. BOXX is particularly known for application-optimized and professionally tuned workstations, including high-frequency and multi-GPU configurations, as well as custom OEM hardware programs for other technology companies.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Thermal Overheating / Cooling Failure

APEXX, RAXX, and older mobile BOXX systems can develop excessive CPU or GPU temperatures from failed fans, clogged airflow paths, degraded thermal interfaces, or liquid-cooling pump failure. Symptoms include thermal throttling, sudden shutdowns, crashes under rendering loads, and in severe cases heat-damaged boards or GPUs.

Power Supply Failure / Load Shutdown

High-wattage BOXX workstations place substantial sustained loads on their PSUs, particularly multi-GPU APEXX and RAXX configurations. A failing or overloaded supply commonly produces no-power conditions, spontaneous resets, shutdowns during GPU rendering, or intermittent startup.

GPU Failure / No Video

Professional NVIDIA GPUs used extensively across BOXX systems can fail electrically or develop unstable VRAM, cooling, or PCIe connections. Typical symptoms include no display, artifacting, application crashes, GPU disappearance, driver errors, or failures that appear only under heavy rendering or compute workloads.

Motherboard / VRM Failure

Motherboard power-delivery circuitry, PCIe interfaces, chipset components, or other board-level electronics can fail after prolonged thermal and electrical stress. Affected BOXX systems may refuse to POST, reboot intermittently, lose PCIe devices, or exhibit unstable CPU and memory operation.

Memory / DIMM Errors

Failed, marginal, or poorly seated DDR/ECC DIMMs can cause POST failures, blue screens, application crashes, corrupted calculations, and intermittent freezes. High-capacity APEXX, RAXX, and HELIXX configurations containing many DIMMs have more individual memory modules and connections that can potentially develop faults.

NVMe / SSD Failure

BOXX workstations frequently use high-performance NVMe and SSD storage that experiences sustained read/write activity in editing, simulation, rendering, and content-creation workloads. Drive degradation can result in boot failure, disappearing disks, SMART or controller errors, severe slowdown, file corruption, or RAID degradation.

CPU Instability / Unexpected Crashes

Some Intel-based BOXX workstations using affected 13th- and 14th-generation Raptor Lake processors can experience instability associated with the widely documented Intel voltage/microcode issue. Symptoms can include application crashes, blue screens, computation errors, and unexplained reboots, with BOXX providing BIOS/microcode-related mitigation guidance.

Liquid Cooling Pump / AIO Failure

Performance-tuned BOXX systems commonly employ closed-loop liquid CPU cooling to control high processor heat loads. Pump deterioration, coolant loss, blockage, or poor cold-plate contact causes rapidly rising CPU temperatures, fan surging, throttling, shutdowns, and eventual inability to sustain workstation workloads.

Fan / Airflow Failure

Chassis, radiator, GPU, or CPU cooling fans can wear out, seize, become noisy, or lose speed over time, while dust buildup can substantially restrict workstation airflow. The resulting cooling loss commonly causes elevated temperatures, throttling, instability under sustained workloads, and accelerated failure of surrounding components.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
