Bowers & Wilkins repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

End Use Segment

Bowers & Wilkins is a British premium audio manufacturer founded in 1966 and best known for high-performance loudspeakers aimed at hi-fi, home-theater, custom-installation and audiophile markets. Its portfolio also includes wireless speakers, subwoofers, soundbars and premium headphones, while the brand supplies automotive audio systems through partnerships with luxury vehicle manufacturers. B&W is particularly associated with its 800 Series Diamond loudspeakers, distinctive driver technologies such as the Continuum cone and Diamond tweeter, and a strong emphasis on acoustic engineering and low-distortion sound reproduction. Manufacturing is split between its long-established Worthing facility in England and production operations in Zhuhai, China.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Battery Failure / Incorrect Charge Reporting

Rechargeable Bowers & Wilkins headphones, particularly Px8/Px7-family models, can develop rapid battery drain, failure to reach full charge, false battery-percentage readings, or complete inability to power on without a charger. Battery-management or charging-circuit faults can make the headphones indicate a full charge despite having little usable capacity.

Headband and Earpad Adhesive Separation

Px7 S2, Px7 S2e, Px8 and earlier headphone models are repeatedly reported with leather or synthetic covering separating from the headband and ear cushions. Adhesive degradation from heat, wear and repeated flexing allows the covering material or padding to pull away from its mounting surface.

Single Earcup / Audio Channel Failure

Px and earlier P-series headphones can lose audio from one earcup or develop intermittent, weak or distorted output on one side. Internal wiring, driver connections, flex conductors or earcup electronics are typical hardware points associated with this symptom.

Earbud / Charging-Case Contact Failure

Pi-series true-wireless earbuds can fail to charge even when the charging case contains sufficient power, sometimes leaving one or both earbuds completely discharged. Poor contact, charging-control faults or battery-management problems can prevent reliable charging while the earbuds are seated in the case.

Power Supply Failure / No Power

Zeppelin and other powered Bowers & Wilkins products can become completely unresponsive because of failures in their internal switch-mode power supplies. Documented repairs include failed fuses, rectifier components, resistors and missing secondary supply rails.

Wireless Network / Connectivity Dropouts

Formation-series wireless speakers can intermittently disconnect from Wi-Fi or stop streaming until the unit is restarted or reconnected. Failures may involve the network interface, wireless control electronics or associated firmware interacting with the hardware.

Tweeter / High-Frequency Driver Failure

Bowers & Wilkins passive loudspeakers are encountered with completely dead, weak or distorted tweeters, particularly in aging or previously overdriven systems. Failure can originate in the tweeter diaphragm/voice coil itself or the high-frequency crossover path.

Woofer / Midrange Surround Deterioration

Older Bowers & Wilkins loudspeakers can develop hardened, cracked or deteriorated driver surrounds that restrict cone movement and cause distortion or reduced bass output. Aging, temperature exposure and material degradation are common contributors.

Powered Subwoofer Amplifier Failure / Hum

Bowers & Wilkins powered subwoofers can develop amplifier or power-supply faults resulting in no output, intermittent operation, excessive hum or sudden loud noise. Aging capacitors, power-supply components and amplifier electronics are common service areas in older ASW-series units.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
