Bower, legally S. Bower, Inc., is a long-established U.S. photography and content-creation equipment brand headquartered in Long Island City, New York. Its core business is designing, branding, sourcing, and distributing consumer photo/video hardware and accessories, including camera lenses, filters, lens adapters, tripods, monopods, flashes, camera mounts, ring lights, LED studio lights, selfie sticks, smartphone mounts, wireless microphones, camera bags, cleaning equipment, action-camera accessories, and related creator electronics. Bower describes itself as a photography-accessories manufacturer with roots dating to around 1950, while present-day trade records show that production is largely outsourced to specialist OEM/ODM factories in China. The company is particularly known for affordable camera accessories and, more recently, creator-oriented lighting and smartphone video equipment sold into the mass consumer and retail market.
Bower ring lights are repeatedly reported as completely dead, intermittently powering off, or failing after a short period of use. Common fault areas include the USB/power input, inline controller, cable connections, and internal power circuitry.
Individual sections of Bower LED and RGB lights can stop illuminating while the rest of the fixture remains functional. Reports include dead color segments, partially illuminated rings, and units arriving with an LED section already inoperative.
LED lighting products may flicker, pulse, suddenly dim, or cycle between normal and reduced brightness during operation. The behavior is consistent with unstable power delivery, controller faults, loose connections, or failing LED-driver electronics.
Plastic leg clamps, extension locks, and structural joints on Bower tripods and Multipod products are frequently reported breaking or losing their ability to hold position. Some units become unstable or collapse after relatively little use.
Phone clamps and adjustable ball-head assemblies may fail to maintain the selected angle or securely grip the device. Worn or weak locking hardware allows the phone or attached light to tilt, rotate, or slide unexpectedly.
Bower wireless lavalier microphones are reported failing to connect, pair, or provide any recorded audio despite appearing powered. Other units connect but produce very weak, distorted, reverberant, or otherwise unusable sound.
Rechargeable Bower lights, microphones, and remote accessories can develop very short runtimes or fail to retain charge at all. Some devices remain dead after extended charging, indicating battery, charging-port, or charging-circuit failure.
Bower SFD-series camera flashes can charge or respond to the test button yet fail to fire from the camera hot shoe. Documented causes and reports involve hot-shoe contacts, TTL communication faults, mounting connections, internal circuitry, and capacitor/charging problems.
Bower external flashes may stop reaching ready status, recycle extremely slowly, lose E-TTL/i-TTL operation, or fail to communicate with the camera. Reports include units reverting to manual behavior, TTL functionality disappearing, and flashes becoming nonfunctional despite fresh batteries.
