Bose repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Bose Corporation is a privately held audio technology OEM founded in 1964 by MIT professor Amar G. Bose. The company designs, engineers, manufactures, and markets premium audio products, including noise-cancelling headphones and earbuds, portable and home speakers, soundbars, home entertainment products, aviation headsets, and custom-engineered automotive audio systems. Bose is particularly known for its QuietComfort noise-cancelling headphones, acoustic and active-noise-control technology, premium loudspeakers, and factory-installed vehicle sound systems. Its automotive business works directly with global automakers to engineer speakers, amplifiers, signal-processing software, and acoustic systems specifically for individual vehicle models.

2 Most Seen Failures:

[Battery degradation / failure]

Across Bose portable speakers, headphones, and earbuds, one of the most recurrent hardware-related failures is a battery that no longer holds a useful charge, drains unusually quickly, or prevents the device from powering on without external power. Older SoundLink models are particularly associated with batteries that eventually require replacement.

[Charging port or charging-contact failure]

Bose devices frequently develop charging problems involving worn or contaminated USB ports, charging-cradle contacts, or earbud-to-case contacts. Symptoms include intermittent charging, failure to charge, or a device that only charges when the cable or product is positioned a certain way.

[Bluetooth connection failure]

SoundLink speakers, QuietComfort headphones, and Bose earbuds commonly exhibit failures to pair, repeated disconnects, or a Bluetooth connection that exists without usable audio. Persistent cases can involve the device's Bluetooth/control electronics rather than the phone or source device.

[One earbud not charging or powering on]

QuietComfort and QuietComfort Ultra earbuds have recurring reports of one bud remaining partially charged, failing to charge, or becoming completely unresponsive while the other works normally. Charging-contact problems and battery faults can produce substantial left/right battery imbalance.

[Crackling, popping, or intermittent audio]

Bose headphones and earbuds are reported to develop crackling, popping, intermittent sound, or audio cutting out on one side. Similar intermittent-audio symptoms appear across multiple generations and can indicate power, connection, driver, or internal electronic problems.

[Headphone hinge creaking or mechanical failure]

QuietComfort-series headphones, particularly QC Ultra models, have reports of hinges that squeak, pop, loosen, or develop excessive mechanical play. In more severe cases, deterioration of the hinge or adjoining plastic structure can compromise the earcup-to-headband connection.

[Charging-case hinge or lid failure]

QuietComfort earbud charging cases are reported with loose, creaking, or excessively flexible lids and hinges. Excessive hinge play can appear even on relatively new units and may progress into a mechanical case failure.

[Power-control / startup failure]

Some Bose hardware enters a state where it will not power on, shut down correctly, or recover normally after charging. Reported symptoms include devices becoming unresponsive, remaining effectively powered while supposedly off, or requiring resets or reconnection to a charger to recover.

[Noise-cancellation failure or imbalance]

QuietComfort hardware can develop absent, intermittent, or uneven active noise cancellation, sometimes accompanied by unusual noise in one channel. Depending on the model, faults involving power delivery, microphones, acoustic ports, fit-related components, or internal electronics can prevent the ANC system from operating normally.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Bose devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
