Blue Sky repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Blue Sky International is a professional-audio manufacturer best known for studio monitoring systems built around active satellite speakers, powered subwoofers, and bass-management electronics. The company was founded and owned by Audio Design Labs and developed products for recording, broadcast, post-production, film, and other critical-listening environments. Its lineup has included the Sky System One, ProDesk, MediaDesk, SAT-series active monitors, SUB-series subwoofers, eXo desktop systems, and Bass Management Controllers. Blue Sky became particularly associated with full-range 2.1 and multichannel monitoring, emphasizing tightly integrated satellite/subwoofer systems rather than conventional stand-alone nearfield speakers; its products have also been used in professional facilities such as Skywalker Sound and ESPN.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Power-On Fuse Failure

The amplifier or subwoofer repeatedly blows its mains fuse when switched on, leaving the unit completely dead. Early MediaDesk systems were specifically affected by excessive startup in-rush current, prompting Blue Sky to issue an in-rush limiter upgrade.

Amplifier Module Failure

Powered satellites and subwoofers can develop amplifier-board faults that begin with crackling, popping, or intermittent audio before progressing to complete loss of output. Repeated versions of this failure have been reported particularly in eXo systems.

Blown Tweeter

The high-frequency driver stops producing sound or becomes noticeably weak or distorted. Tweeter failures have been reported on ProDesk/SAT-series monitors, especially after operation at high playback levels.

Blown Woofer

The woofer develops severe distortion, rattling, scraping, or stops producing low- and mid-frequency output altogether. Documented MediaDesk units have required replacement 4-inch woofers after driver failure.

Power Supply Failure

Internal amplifier power-supply components can fail, resulting in no power, intermittent startup, popping, or a unit that shuts down shortly after being switched on. Aging capacitors, rectification components, and high-current power stages are typical repair targets in older powered Blue Sky hardware.

Hum or Buzz From Monitor

A persistent mains-frequency hum or electrical buzz can appear in the satellite or subwoofer output even without useful audio. Blue Sky documentation specifically warns that cable shielding and proximity to AC wiring can produce audible hum, although internal grounding or power-supply faults can create the same symptom.

Crackling or Intermittent Audio

Audio begins to crackle, sputter, or cut in and out before normal playback resumes or the system fails completely. This symptom is repeatedly associated with eXo amplifier/electronics failures and can also originate from aging connectors, controls, or amplifier components.

Subwoofer Output Failure

The powered subwoofer loses bass output while the satellites may continue operating normally. Likely hardware causes include the subwoofer amplifier stage, power supply, driver voice coil, or the internal bass-management electronics used throughout Blue Sky SUB and integrated 2.1 systems.

Bass-Management Channel Failure

One satellite channel, subwoofer feed, or filtered output becomes weak, distorted, or completely silent even though other channels continue operating. Because many Blue Sky systems route satellite signals through the powered subwoofer or dedicated bass-management electronics, failure in this circuitry can remove an otherwise functional speaker from the signal path.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
