Paper Feed and Media Jam
Paper can jam in the feed path, platen, or exit area, causing feeding to stop or the printer cover to remain locked. Adhesive buildup, curled media, incorrect loading, and worn feed components can make the problem recurrent.
Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.
BIXOLON is a South Korean manufacturer specializing in compact commercial and industrial printing hardware. Founded as an independent company in 2002 after its printing activities originated within Samsung Electro-Mechanics, BIXOLON designs and manufactures POS/receipt printers, desktop and industrial label printers, mobile printers, RFID-capable printers, linerless printers, kiosk printing mechanisms, mobile computers, and related printing solutions. Its equipment is widely used in retail, hospitality, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, healthcare, warehousing, ticketing, and field-service applications. The company is particularly known for rugged thermal printing technology and for its POS, barcode-label, and portable printer families. In 2025, POS printers represented about 31% of revenue, mobile printers about 29%, and label printers about 21%, illustrating its concentration in transaction and identification printing.
Paper can jam in the feed path, platen, or exit area, causing feeding to stop or the printer cover to remain locked. Adhesive buildup, curled media, incorrect loading, and worn feed components can make the problem recurrent.
Receipt and label models equipped with automatic cutters can develop stuck or mispositioned cutter blades that prevent paper cutting and may also keep the cover from opening. The problem commonly appears as an auto-cutter error, repeated incomplete cuts, or paper remaining trapped at the exit.
Thermal printheads can become contaminated, scratched, overheated, or electrically degraded, producing faded print, missing horizontal or vertical sections, light barcodes, or completely blank output. Dust and adhesive residue are especially common contributors on label and linerless models.
Gap, black-mark, paper-out, and cover sensors can become dirty, misaligned, improperly calibrated, or defective. Symptoms include MEDIA OUT or calibration errors even when labels are installed, skipped labels, incorrect stopping positions, or continuous feeding.
Thermal-transfer models may fail to detect a ribbon, incorrectly report RIBBON OUT, or experience wrinkling and poor ribbon take-up. Misloaded ribbon, sensor calibration issues, worn drive components, or a failed ribbon sensor can interrupt printing.
Feed rollers and platen assemblies can become worn, contaminated, glazed, or coated with adhesive, resulting in slipping, crooked feeding, inconsistent label advancement, or repeated jams. Linerless media applications are particularly sensitive to adhesive buildup and mechanical wear.
Mobile BIXOLON printers can develop weak batteries, batteries that will no longer accept a charge, charging-contact problems, or intermittent power behavior. Aging battery packs commonly produce short run time, unexpected shutdowns, or failure to power on without external power.
Heavy print jobs or excessive ambient temperature can cause the thermal printhead to exceed its operating temperature and halt printing until it cools. Temperature-sensing faults or printhead connection problems can also cause persistent OVER HEAT or abnormal temperature errors.
BIXOLON printers may fail to appear to the host computer or POS system because of USB detection, connector, network configuration, Bluetooth pairing, or interface-board problems. Hardware-side symptoms include intermittent communication, repeated disconnects, or a printer that powers normally but cannot receive print jobs.
