PoE / Power Failure
Unit fails to power on, repeatedly reboots, or will not complete startup when supplied by PoE. Insufficient PoE budget, degraded power circuitry, or DC-input faults are common causes, particularly on higher-power PTZ cameras.
Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.
BirdDog is an Australian professional video technology manufacturer founded in Melbourne in 2016, best known for developing hardware and software built around NDI networked video workflows. Its product portfolio includes PTZ and box cameras, video encoders and decoders, converters, controllers, monitors, AV-over-IP products, and supporting software used for live production, broadcast, corporate AV, education, houses of worship, sports, and remote production. BirdDog was an early hardware adopter of NDI and has focused heavily on moving broadcast-quality video, audio, control, tally, and metadata over standard IP networks with low latency. In 2026, NDI described BirdDog as a leading professional NDI hardware manufacturer and reported that its camera, encoder, and decoder range had achieved NDI 6.3 compatibility.

Device disappears from the network, cannot obtain an IP address, or shows no activity at the RJ45 interface. Failures may involve the Ethernet interface, PoE circuitry, network controller, or associated board-level components.
Camera or converter becomes unresponsive, hangs during boot, or loses functions following an interrupted or failed firmware/MCU update. BirdDog documents cases where failed MCU programming can disable NDI, HDMI, or SDI operation.
HDMI or SDI outputs produce no picture, intermittent video, corrupted output, or fail to lock to connected equipment. This can originate from damaged connectors, interface circuitry, signal-conditioning components, or firmware/MCU faults.
PTZ cameras develop jerky movement, fail to move on one axis, lose positional accuracy, or fail to return correctly to presets. Pan/tilt motors, position sensors, drive electronics, mechanical gearing, and cabling are typical hardware suspects.
Camera remains out of focus, hunts continuously, fails to autofocus after zooming, or stops responding correctly to zoom commands. Lens-drive motors, focus/zoom position sensing, ribbon connections, and control electronics can cause these symptoms.
Converters or cameras become unstable, shut down, reboot, or develop video problems after extended operation or elevated temperatures. Fan-equipped BirdDog products can suffer impaired airflow or fan failure, while passively cooled models are sensitive to excessive environmental heat.
Video develops flickering, corrupted frames, image artifacts, stuttering, or intermittent signal loss despite a valid source. BirdDog firmware notes document image-artifact and video-format stability issues, while hardware faults can involve the image sensor, encoder circuitry, memory, or video interface.
Integrated displays remain blank, freeze during boot, or stop showing normal status information even when power is present. BirdDog specifically treats a completely blank onboard screen as a condition requiring support investigation, with display, power-rail, ribbon, or mainboard faults among likely hardware causes.
