BETSO ELECTRONICS is a Czech professional-electronics manufacturer founded in 2009 that specializes in equipment for film, television, location sound, and video-production workflows. Its best-known products are precision SMPTE timecode devices such as the SBOX sync generators, TCX wireless timecode transceivers, WTCS wireless electronic slates, and TCD timecode displays. The company has expanded into professional RF equipment—including active and bag antennas and the RF OCTOPUS splitter/diagnostic platform—as well as battery charging and power-management products. BETSO emphasizes rugged CNC-machined construction, accurate synchronization, wireless operation, and compact field-ready equipment aimed primarily at production sound mixers, camera departments, and other professional film/video crews.
BETSO TCX, SBOX, and WTCS units may fail to power on because of depleted batteries, poor battery-terminal contact, corrosion, or faults in the internal power circuitry. BETSO specifically lists a dead battery as the primary troubleshooting cause when TCX-series units will not start.
BNC or LEMO timecode ports can develop intermittent or completely missing TC input/output from connector wear, damaged solder joints, cabling stress, or input-stage failure. The result is typically failure to jam, transmit, or deliver valid SMPTE timecode to connected equipment.
Connecting a BETSO timecode output to an audio input with phantom power enabled can electrically damage the output circuitry. BETSO explicitly warns that phantom-powered microphone inputs can cause serious damage to TCX and SBOX hardware.
AA batteries left discharged inside BETSO devices can leak and corrode battery contacts, wiring, and nearby PCB traces. This commonly produces intermittent powering, excessive voltage drop, or a completely dead unit.
TCX and WTCS wireless units may stop linking reliably because of RF-module faults, antenna damage, incorrect regional/channel settings, or degraded antenna connections. Symptoms include lost continuous jamming, reduced operating range, or devices disappearing from the BETSO RF network.
A BETSO generator or transceiver may fail to accept or maintain an external jam because of input-stage faults, incorrect signal amplitude, connector problems, or configuration issues. Users may see no recognized incoming timecode or repeated loss of synchronization with cameras and recorders.
OLED displays used in TCX/SBOX models and LED displays used in WTCS slates can become dim, intermittent, partially blank, or completely nonfunctional as the display or its driver circuitry ages. A device may continue generating timecode even though local status information is no longer readable.
Micro-USB or USB-C ports used for firmware updates and external power can become mechanically loose or electrically unreliable after repeated cable use. Damaged connectors or interface circuitry can prevent firmware upgrades, external powering, or communication with the device.
Moisture intrusion can cause corrosion, leakage currents, connector oxidation, and eventual PCB failure in BETSO electronics. BETSO specifically instructs users to protect its electrical products from high humidity and direct contact with water.
