Bering Optics repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

End Use Segment

Bering Optics is a privately held optics manufacturer and developer specializing primarily in thermal imaging and night-vision equipment for hunting, observation, and shooting applications. Its product history includes thermal riflescopes and clip-ons, night-vision riflescopes and monoculars, reflex/red-dot sights, prismatic sights, telescopic sights, and laser boresights. The company grew out of earlier OEM optical-development work and later established its own Bering Optics brand, emphasizing compact thermal systems such as the Hogster and Super Yoter families. Bering develops, tests, assembles, and services products in the United States while sourcing certain major components internationally; for example, documented Hogster systems have used thermal cores supplied by iRay.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Power-On / Unexpected Shutdown Failure

Unit will not power on, shuts down unexpectedly, or turns off during recoil or normal operation. Common causes include battery-contact faults, weak power connections, battery-compartment issues, or internal power circuitry.

USB-C / External Power Failure

Scope shuts down, becomes unstable, or refuses to operate correctly when connected to an external battery pack, computer, or USB-C power source. Reports particularly implicate worn or faulty USB-C connections and associated power-management circuitry.

Zero Retention / Point-of-Impact Shift

Thermal weapon sights may lose zero or exhibit gradual point-of-impact movement despite remaining securely mounted. Reported causes include mount movement, loose objective assemblies, mechanical play, or internal alignment problems.

Thermal Shutter / Calibration Failure

The internal thermal shutter can stick or fail to complete calibration correctly, producing degraded, frozen, or improperly corrected thermal images. This has been specifically reported on Super Hogster-series hardware.

Frozen Display / Cold-Temperature Screen Failure

Display may freeze, remain stuck on the startup logo, or stop updating when operated in colder temperatures. A documented Super Hogster production issue involved displays that were not properly rated for cold-weather operation.

Battery Contact / Battery Compartment Failure

Dirty, worn, loose, or damaged battery contacts can cause intermittent power, failure to start, or unstable operation. Bering troubleshooting guidance specifically directs users to inspect and clean battery-compartment contact points when units fail to power up.

Control Button / Power-Switch Failure

Buttons may become unresponsive, stick, or fail to execute power and menu commands correctly. Some reported units could not be switched off normally and required battery or external-power disconnection.

IR Illuminator Failure

On night-vision models, the integrated infrared illuminator may stop producing useful illumination even though the device itself remains operational. Likely hardware faults include the IR emitter, LED/laser driver, electrical contacts, or illumination control circuitry.

Display / Image Output Failure

Users may encounter blank, dim, flickering, distorted, spotted, or intermittently disappearing images. Hardware-related causes can include display-panel failure, connectors or internal flex cables, power instability, optical alignment, or image-processing electronics.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Bering Optics devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
