BEACN Wizardry & Magic Inc. is a Canadian consumer-audio technology company focused on premium hardware and software for streamers, gamers, podcasters, and digital content creators. The company develops its products from the ground up rather than relying on white-label designs, with its ecosystem centered around the BEACN Mic USB-C broadcast microphone, BEACN Studio XLR interface, BEACN Mix and Mix Create audio controllers, BEACN Mic Stand, BEACN App, and its newer headset platform. Its products emphasize integrated digital signal processing, simplified audio routing and mixing, noise processing, and studio-quality voice reproduction without requiring a conventional collection of external audio hardware and software plug-ins. BEACN is particularly known for combining creator-oriented software with purpose-built audio hardware and onboard DSP, with the BEACN Mic serving as its original flagship product. BEACN Mic may intermittently disconnect, fail to enumerate, or lose communication with the PC, sometimes after the microphone or USB cable is moved. A brief USB interruption can also cause loss of audio or destabilize the BEACN application.
The microphone can remain detected by Windows and the BEACN App while producing no usable output to recording, streaming, or voice-chat applications. Reports include the input meter showing no signal as well as cases where internal processing shows signal but the selected microphone output remains silent.
BEACN Mic can become stuck muted, fail to respond correctly to mute commands, or have its hardware LED state disagree with the actual audio mute state. Windows-level device muting and BEACN routing/mute synchronization have both been documented causes.
Mic audio may fail to reach Voice Chat Mic, Personal Mix, or other configured BEACN outputs despite the microphone itself operating normally. Routing can also be lost following device reconnection, driver changes, application startup, or changes to Windows audio devices.
EQ, compressor, expander, routing, application assignments, or other microphone settings may fail to persist after restarting the PC, updating software, or changing profiles. BEACN has issued multiple fixes specifically addressing profile recovery and microphone settings not being saved.
BEACN Mic may not reconnect or resume normal audio operation after the computer wakes from sleep. Symptoms can include missing audio, an unresponsive microphone, incorrect routing, or the device needing to be reselected or reconnected.
The microphone's Adaptive Noise Suppression can stop adapting to changes in ambient noise after extended operation or fail to react correctly when the background noise level changes. BEACN has specifically documented and patched an intermittent condition causing adaptive suppression to stop adapting.
Users may experience pronounced popping sounds, particularly on speech containing strong P and B sounds. BEACN identifies plosives as a recurring microphone issue and recommends changes to microphone angle, distance, compression, or additional pop filtering when the built-in foam, mesh, and capsule protection are insufficient.
Firmware updates or changes in the BEACN application can leave the microphone improperly detected, unresponsive, incorrectly configured, or unable to communicate reliably with the software. BEACN's release history includes fixes for USB communication, firmware-update crashes, driver detection, hardware reconnection, and device initialization problems.
