Austrian Audio repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Austrian Audio is a Vienna-based professional audio manufacturer founded in 2017 by a core group of former AKG Vienna employees after AKG’s local operations closed. The company designs and manufactures studio, broadcast, live-sound, and content-production equipment, with its primary hardware lines centered on professional microphones and headphones. It is particularly known for the OC818 and OC18 large-diaphragm condenser microphones, its handcrafted ceramic microphone capsules, and the Hi-X professional headphone range. Austrian Audio emphasizes in-house acoustic and transducer engineering, precision manufacturing, and its continuation of Vienna’s long-standing microphone-development tradition. In January 2025, DPA Microphones acquired a majority share of Austrian Audio, while the company continued developing and manufacturing products under the Austrian Audio name in Vienna.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Headband Slider / Adjuster Cracking

Hi-X series headphones, particularly the Hi-X55 and Hi-X65, have reports of plastic around the headband adjustment or slider mechanism cracking. The failure can prevent the earcup position from staying adjusted and may eventually make the headphones difficult to wear.

Earpad and Headband Cushion Deterioration

Hi-X headphone cushions can flatten, peel, tear, or disintegrate after extended use. Severe compression reduces comfort and can allow the user's ears to contact the hard internal earcup structure.

Detachable Cable / Connector Failure

Hi-X headphone cables and their small locking connectors can develop physical damage or intermittent contact after repeated bending or pulling. Symptoms include audio cutting out, crackling, or loss of one or both channels until the cable or connector is repositioned.

Bluetooth Pairing / Connection Failure

Hi-X25BT headphones can fail to reconnect, remain stuck searching for a Bluetooth source, or stop establishing the expected Bluetooth profile with a computer or mobile device. Clearing stored connections or performing a hardware reset may temporarily restore operation.

Touch Control Malfunction

The Hi-X25BT capacitive control surface can become unresponsive or trigger commands unintentionally. Moisture or contamination can worsen the problem, although users have also reported erratic control behavior during normal use.

Battery / Power-Up Failure

Hi-X25BT units may fail to respond when the internal battery is deeply discharged or the control electronics become unresponsive. Austrian Audio provides a hardware-reset procedure specifically for headphones that no longer react to controls.

USB / Wired Audio No-Output Condition

Hi-X25BT headphones may be detected by a USB source yet produce no sound, or fail to output audio when switching between USB, Bluetooth, and analog operation. Mode-control or power-state problems are common causes of this symptom.

MiCreator USB Recognition / Signal Loss

MiCreator Studio, Satellite, and Y-Lav systems can experience cases where the computer does not recognize the microphone or no microphone signal reaches the connected device. Connection-state, gain-switch, jack-detection, and USB-interface issues are the principal documented causes.

Microphone Chassis Rattle / Loose Internal Debris

OC18 and related Austrian Audio condenser microphones have occasional reports of rattling from inside the microphone body or headbasket. Reported causes include loose material or small pieces of grille plating inside the assembly, requiring inspection or replacement when present.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
