Atlona is a professional audiovisual technology OEM specializing in AV signal distribution, AV-over-IP, collaboration, connectivity, and room-control systems. Its portfolio includes matrix and presentation switchers, HDMI/HDBaseT extenders, networked AV encoders and decoders, video processors, control gateways and touch panels, cameras, and related connectivity products. Its equipment is primarily deployed in corporate meeting and conference rooms, classrooms and higher-education facilities, training spaces, digital signage, and other commercial AV installations. Atlona is particularly associated with networked AV-over-IP, HDBaseT signal distribution, and integrated room-control/collaboration solutions designed to simplify professional AV installations.
Atlona switchers, matrices, and HDBaseT extenders may stop passing video or display a black screen. Common causes include EDID negotiation errors, unsupported video formats, HDMI/HDBaseT cabling problems, HDCP incompatibility, and source/display compatibility issues.
Video may periodically disappear, flicker, or require a power cycle to recover. Atlona documentation associates this behavior with compromised HDBaseT links, poor cable terminations, EDID problems, environmental interference, and outdated firmware.
Sources may fail to produce video, work only with certain displays, switch slowly, or operate inconsistently when EDID information is incorrectly negotiated. Atlona recommends selecting an appropriate internal EDID or learning and locking a known-good display EDID when these symptoms occur.
The HDBaseT LINK indicator may flash or remain off and audio/video transmission may fail entirely. Long cable runs, excessive terminations, poor-quality RJ45 terminations, cable faults, interference, and firmware issues are recurring causes.
A system may work correctly at 1080p but produce no picture when switched to 4K or HDR. This commonly occurs when the source negotiates a resolution, refresh rate, chroma format, or HDR mode exceeding the capabilities of the Atlona extender or another device in the signal path.
Video may work normally while analog or de-embedded audio is missing. A frequent cause is an EDID that does not request compatible 2-channel PCM audio, particularly when a projector or display without speakers supplies the EDID.
Analog audio outputs may exhibit hum, hiss, popping, or other noise. Atlona identifies grounding differences, improperly terminated audio wiring, power and audio cables routed together, and other external analog-signal problems as common causes.
An Atlona extender may fail to power from its normal supply or over PoE, leaving the unit or link nonfunctional. Atlona documents cases where alternate USB power or a replacement power supply restores operation and recommends checking power quality when failures recur.
Network-controlled Atlona hardware may become inaccessible through its web interface or fail to obtain a usable IP address. Typical causes include DHCP/network configuration problems, an unknown device IP, incorrect credentials, or configuration states requiring network troubleshooting or a factory reset.
