Athom (Homey) repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Athom B.V. is a Dutch smart-home technology OEM and platform developer best known for Homey, an open smart-home ecosystem designed to connect and automate devices from many different manufacturers. Its principal hardware product is the Homey Pro smart-home hub, supplemented by products such as Homey Pro mini and cloud-based Homey services. Homey combines Athom's own operating system, mobile/software platform, automation tools and multi-protocol hardware to control connected lighting, appliances, sensors and other IoT devices. Homey Pro supports technologies including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter and Thread, and the ecosystem connects with tens of thousands of third-party devices through roughly 1,000 applications. Athom is particularly known for providing a brand-agnostic smart-home hub and automation platform rather than manufacturing individual end devices such as lights or thermostats.

2 Most Seen Failures:

[Power Adapter Failure / Undervoltage]

The supplied power adapter can degrade or provide insufficient voltage, causing random reboots, freezes, connectivity loss, CPU underclocking, or failure to boot. This is particularly well documented on older Homey Pro models and early Homey Pro (2023) units.

[USB Power Cable Failure]

Faulty or high-resistance USB/USB-C cables can cause voltage drops and intermittent power delivery. Symptoms include unexplained restarts, Wi-Fi instability, failed updates, missing apps, and Ethernet connectivity problems.

[Wi-Fi Connection Failure]

Homey Pro and Homey Bridge units are repeatedly reported to lose Wi-Fi connectivity or fail to reconnect without a power cycle. Problems can be aggravated by mesh networks, access-point roaming, interference, or marginal power delivery.

[Ethernet Adapter Failure]

The Homey Pro Ethernet Adapter can fail to be detected, intermittently disconnect, or stop passing network traffic entirely. Reports include adapters that were defective on arrival as well as units that stopped functioning after previously working normally.

[Zigbee Radio / Network Instability]

Zigbee devices can become unreachable, disconnect shortly after pairing, or respond inconsistently even while other Homey radio protocols remain operational. Reports span Homey Pro and Homey Bridge, although interference and mesh topology can produce the same symptoms and should not automatically be interpreted as radio hardware failure.

[Z-Wave Radio / Network Instability]

Z-Wave networks can develop failed transmissions, unreachable nodes, pairing failures, or situations where many Z-Wave devices simultaneously stop responding. Homey documents NO_ACK and transmission failures, while users also report cases requiring a Homey restart to restore operation.

[Overheating / Thermal Failure]

Some Homey Pro (2023) units have been reported reaching unusually high CPU temperatures, accompanied by severe throttling, instability, or repeated restarts. Community reports also describe exceptionally hot or physically heat-damaged units.

[Bluetooth Radio Instability]

Bluetooth/BLE communication can stop working after Homey has been running for a period, producing timeouts, failed connections, or devices that cannot reconnect until Homey is rebooted. Similar BLE reconnection and range problems have been reported across multiple Homey Pro generations.

[LED Ring Hardware Failure]

The LED ring on some Homey Pro units can partially or completely malfunction, with individual LEDs remaining active while animations, dimming, or other ring functions stop working. Community troubleshooting has identified cases where the symptoms point to an LED-ring hardware fault rather than a configuration problem.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Athom (Homey) devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
