ASUSTOR repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

ASUSTOR Inc. is a Taiwan-based storage technology company founded in 2011 through direct investment from ASUSTeK Computer (ASUS); its name combines “ASUS” and “Storage.” The company develops and manufactures network-attached storage (NAS) systems and related private-cloud and network video recorder solutions, together with the firmware, operating-system software, applications, and mobile tools that support those devices. Its portfolio ranges from compact multi-bay desktop NAS appliances for home and SOHO users to higher-capacity and rackmount systems for businesses. ASUSTOR is particularly known for integrating its NAS hardware with its ADM (ASUSTOR Data Master) operating system, enabling centralized file storage, RAID, backup, remote/private-cloud access, multimedia services, surveillance, and business/virtualization workloads.

2 Most Seen Failures:

[Power Supply / AC Adapter Failure]

The external power brick or internal PSU fails, causing the NAS to shut down unexpectedly, refuse to power on, or briefly start before losing power. Failed adapters have been confirmed with multimeter testing, and PSU-related failures are reported across Nimbustor, Lockerstor, and Flashstor models.

[Motherboard Power Circuit Failure]

The NAS receives correct power from its adapter but shows no LEDs, fan activity, drive spin-up, or other signs of booting. Reports frequently describe this after outages or power restoration, sometimes requiring motherboard-level repair or complete unit replacement.

[Cooling Fan / Fan-Speed Sensor Failure]

The system reports abnormal fan speed, zero RPM, persistent warning beeps, or a fan that becomes stuck at maximum speed despite configuration changes. Similar symptoms have been reported across multiple models, although some cases appear firmware-related rather than a physically failed fan.

[Drive Backplane / SATA Bay Failure]

One or more drive bays stop supplying power or detecting otherwise functional HDDs or SSDs. Swapping known-good drives between bays can reveal that the fault resides in the NAS backplane, SATA connection, or associated power circuitry rather than in the disks.

[Boot / Onboard Flash Failure]

The NAS powers up but becomes stuck during startup, cannot initialize ADM, or fails to reach a usable operating state. In some cases the onboard flash containing the boot environment or ADM components appears corrupted or damaged and requires recovery or service.

[RAM / Memory Initialization Failure]

The NAS fails to POST or remains stuck during startup because installed memory is incompatible, improperly seated, or otherwise cannot initialize correctly. ASUSTOR specifically recommends reverting to the factory memory when diagnosing initialization failures.

[Ethernet / Network Interface Failure]

The NAS may power and boot normally but lose network connectivity, negotiate incorrectly, drop connections, or exhibit unstable transfers through its Ethernet interface. Cable, switch, configuration, and firmware problems must be excluded before attributing these symptoms to the physical NIC.

[USB Interface Failure]

USB devices may stop being detected, fail to mount, disconnect unexpectedly, or become unusable through one or more NAS USB ports despite functioning correctly on other computers. Similar symptoms can originate from the USB controller, port hardware, power delivery, or software/driver layer.

[Power-Outage-Induced Hardware Failure]

After a blackout or restoration of mains power, the NAS may no longer boot, lose drive bays, develop fan-sensor errors, or suffer PSU or motherboard damage. Multiple ASUSTOR model reports associate otherwise sudden hardware failures with power interruptions, and ASUSTOR recommends UPS-controlled safe shutdown to protect NAS operation during outages.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
